Foreign character names
In the French edition of the manga, Megure gets called "Maigret" (ironically, this word means 'skinny'), but since the entries for French and German are on the same line in the table, I can't change it. If you could update this information, I'd be grateful. ^__^ EdiblePencil 21:17, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
RE: An Idea
Interesting. That could work. I'll add this to the TODO list. --Maurice 15:41, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
User-specific templates
Hello,
Like I mentioned on the forum, it's alright to create User templates, but could you refrain from making user-specific templates such as "Conanshinichi banner" (i.e. templates related to a username) for three reasons:
- Templates should be as generic as possible
- That template will only be used once: on you user page. Thus it is not necessary to make a template out of it and it will not be useful for anyone else or any other article
- It's not part of the best practices of this wiki: we must not create and mix specific (and/or personal) templates with generic and reusable ones (which should be what templates are used for)
Let me know if you have any question. Thank you for your cooperation. --Maurice 13:56, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll you know if there's anything else. For now it's alright. :) --Maurice 14:20, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Standardization
Hi again! Could you edit the different user tags templates so that they use the {{UserBox}} template like I did here: Template:User Brown Hair? That would allow a centralized controlled on ALL the tags from the UserBox template. Thank you and keep it up! --Maurice 16:26, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yea that's what I'm doing, thanx --conanshinichi 17:20, 20 May 2011 (UTC) hi]] 16:28, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Archive template
No I'm not making it, but I put it there hoping someone would be inspired to. I can't seem to make templates behave properly. It's the same template as the one from Wikipedia if you are interested. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 18:30, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- Looks good! Le edit: I think there might have to be another template to get this one to work exactly? Template:Talkarchive Chekhov MacGuffin talk 18:56, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Detective boys template
Please do use it. It looks fabulous. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 17:58, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, I second that. Thanks. --Maurice 17:47, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Episode pictures
I just wanted to let you know that it's OK to use screenshots of an important part of the episode series rather that the black and white text titlecards for case images. Actually we are slowly trying to replace all of the titlecards with episode images. You can see an example here: The Monkey & Bamboo Rake’s Stolen Items.Chekhov MacGuffin talk 17:11, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Honestly, I wouldn't call it the best picture, it's hardly London-y. Maybe I'll rustle up a better one - maybe that scene with Ran and Shinichi in front of Big Ben? You can upload the titlecard anyway under a separate name and stick it on the bottom of the page. As for 69.150.186.186, she is wrong. I will have a word with her. Cheers! Chekhov MacGuffin talk 19:50, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Change it back
This is 69.150.186.186, please change that picture into title card. Not that picture of falling strawberry. Please please please!
- No no no no no no. I mean do it now. Just don't worry about her.
- I guess that's better.
Megure sealed secret
she ain't dead
- don't worry I fix something better

Look
This is 166.205.12.133, go to Episode 217-218. You do that. End talk.
RE: Foreign Languages thing
Ok, give it a try with Shinichi to see how it comes out. I would suggest adding more columns (and flags) if possible and make it sortable such as:
Language | Given Name | Family Name | Nicknames |
---|---|---|---|
Japanese | 新一 Shin’ichi | ||
English | Jimmy | ||
French | Shinichi | ||
German | Shinichi | ||
Arabic | سنشي Sinshi | ||
Korean | 남도일 Nam Doyle |
Note that it's alright to have the name of the language in English cause it's an English wiki (plus the flag helps). Thanks. --Maurice 20:22, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hey! I read your troubles on Maurice's page. Basically what you're missing to make other languages optional are the "if" codes. :) I'll fiddle around with it and see if I can try helping too. --Skyechan 21:14, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
- Mmm, maybe the "if" coding only applies to infobox templates. --Skyechan 21:18, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
RE: Foreign thing help!
I made a different kind of template which I think will not only answer your question but will also provide more flexibility (like the added possibility to include a 4th column called "Nickname/Aliases" if needed). The templates are: Template:BeginTable CharLang and Template:CharLangItem. I used it already on Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya#In other languages. Thanks for the idea and keep up the good work! :) --Maurice 15:36, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Template Begin_Table_OtherLang
Could you rename the template to "BeginTable OtherLang" instead of "Begin Table OtherLang" (no space between Begin and Table) please? It would be according to the standards. Thanks! --Maurice 13:50, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Hey
Hey, the Final Operating room episode, I want you to change 624-? into 624-625 because there's Part 1 and Part 2.
- Good
What do you know?
What do you know? She's my archenemy!!! And I don't understand her at all. The wiki script thing she just gave me is like rules! She said there's no rule. So users can edit anything! I don't understand her at all! So what do you know, huh?
Hatred
She makes me sick all right! I'm trying to make it better and I don't want changes from her! She ruin my life. She should know that something bad happens like I turn into culprit to have revenge on her. She's no moderator, she's a cold blooded user who ruins my life! And I have much hatred on her!
- Well go then, I hate her!!!!

Your work
You have become one of my new favorite users on here with all of your hard work on templates and infoboxes. The infoboxes especially, since it helps personalize the site for lots of users. Keep up the great work!! CarpetCrawlermessage me 00:41, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
Reminder
Hey, I've noticed that you've been contributing a lot lately. Kudos on all of your hard work, but I just wanted to remind you to add categories when you create new pages. I've noticed that, especially with your templates, they are created as orphan articles (pages without categories) which makes organization especially difficult. Anyways, just a reminder. Keep up the good work! :) --Jigsaw 22:34, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, at the bottom of every article, there should be a bar line that says "Category". To the right of this word, all categories about the article are listed. If your article is about an episode, it will says "Episodes". If your article is about a manga volume, it will say "Volumes". For example, go to Edogawa Conan. If you go to the bottom of the article, you will see that the article falls into 9 different categories: "Characters", "Male characters", "Detectives", "High school detectives", "High school students", "Elementary school students", "Detective Boys", "Mouri family", and "Kudo family". All nine of these categories are clickable, bringing you to a page that shows you every article that has the same category on it. This is used to better organize articles so people can find things easier. When you create a new article, you have to put it into the category or categories that it belongs in. If you were to create a new template listing characters or something, you would have to add [[Category:Navbox templates]] and [[Category:Templates]] to the bottom of the article. Did that make more sense? --Jigsaw 22:53, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, no need to apologize. I just wanted to let you know for future reference. That's how you learn. :) Thanks for listening to me ramble! Keep up the good work! --Jigsaw 23:00, 2 July 2011 (UTC)
Reply your doubt, what does ยอดนักสืบจิ๋วโคนัน means?
Literally, ยอดนักสืบจิ๋วโคนัน means the Little Great Detective Conan. Totally, it means the Great Detective Boy, Conan.
Request
Please go to State of Emergency 252, go to edit, and when you see "next episode - The Final Operating Room", change "The Final Operating Room" to "A Video Letter of First Love" according to dcfc Detective Conan Fan Club.
Shortcuts template
Hello. I need to stop you there before you start adding the template to all the pages. The Shortcuts template usually has a "behind-the-scenes" purpose where it helps as a navigational tool for non-"main domain" wikispaces. What this means is that they shouldn't be used for normal articles like Roller Coaster Murder Case but for other domain spaces such as Detective Conan Wiki:Manual of Style or Template:Some template or Category:Some category, etc.. Basically anything outside of the normal domain space. For more information see: Wikipedia:Shortcut. Therefore, the template you created would be great for "Detective Conan Wiki" articles (i.e. any article starting with "Detective Conan Wiki:") such as Detective Conan Wiki:Projects, Detective Conan Wiki:Guide, etc... As for normal article, you will not see those "shortcuts boxes" normally on Wikipedia. Normal articles are the real purpose of the site which is to show an "encyclopedic-like" presentation of a topic. Shortcuts should only appear in the form of redirection, and not on the article's page itself (i.e. it would just clutter the page with non-essential information). Hope that makes sense. Thank you for the idea and we'll eventually use the Shortcuts template for the other domain spaces like I mentioned above. --Maurice 16:11, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the edits. --Maurice 17:09, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
RE: An Idea
Hmm, interesting idea. Do you mean that you'd create an article called for example Detective Conan in France and give a big summary of its impact there? --Maurice 17:09, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Do it for only one country for now just to see how it goes and how far it can be modified/adapted/improved before potentially adopting the approach. Thanks. --Maurice 17:20, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Alright. Give it a go. Add a link to the new article from Detective Conan. Thanks. --Maurice 13:36, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
RE: Help!
Just a question: would it be hard to find a picture of the voice actors for those versions of DC? If not, why not use the same Cast template and simply add the pictures of the voice actors if they have one, or add an anonymous picture such as File:Toshiro Odagiri 60px.jpg if they don't? --Maurice 13:44, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
- I made some modifications to the template. You can see it in action there: Detective Conan in the Arab World. --Maurice 15:53, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
RE: Wow
Haha, thank you! Most of these edits I'm making right now though are just me copying and pasting code to better organize some of the uncategorized images on the site. My fingers are kind of sore from so much clicking, but I haven't nearly put in as much time and effort lately as I've seen from other users. Skyechan and yourself are prime examples of users who have been doing a lot of editing lately. Keep up the good work! Anyways, thank you for your kind words. :) --Jigsaw 17:23, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Midori and Reiko's appearance pages
Many thanks for those. If you thought THOSE took long, just imagine how much work it took for me to do Ran Mouri Appearances. :V Keep up the good work!! Feel free to do more appearance pages~ CarpetCrawlermessage me 02:06, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
Arigato! Title Cards or Pictures?
Thanks for the help, as long as your 100% sure! I trust you though so I'll go ahead, if not then I'll take it upon myself to clean up, but like I say I trust you. Hstar 16:19, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
RE: Home page for DCW
Yeah, I haven't changed it in a long time.. I did think of changing it many times but just never got around to doing it (or forgot about it over time). Maybe we should have a topic on the forum with suggestions for the next featured wiki article. Or maybe simply use the current one on the wiki (on the Main Page). However, the source for the featured article on the homepage is independent and separate and thus not automatically linked to the one on the wiki. Therefore, I'd still have to update the homepage manually every time we come up with a new featured article on the wiki. But I guess I never really thought of it as a priority since I much preferred contributing to the wiki instead (i.e. higher priority). --Maurice 16:01, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
RE: Signature question
It's alright to add pictures as long as they're not taking too much space and/or distracting from the discussion(s) at hand. As for this, are you talking about adding it to the top of my talk page or in my signature? Because at the top of any user's talk page, there's a "+" tab next to the "edit" tab that already does the job of linking to a new section on that talk page. As for my signature, I have been thinking of changing it for a while. I just haven't seen it as something urgent I guess. But it's true that it might come in handy as a shortcut for other users that want to write on my talk page. I'll get to it eventually. --Maurice 17:47, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
