Robert Langdon
Robert Langdon is the character created by Author Dan Brown for the books Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, and The Lost Symbol, each set in contemporary times.
About
Losing his father early in life, Langdon was soon taken in by the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Possessing an eidetic memory and keen problem solving skills, Langdon also confesses that, though raised Catholic, "faith is a gift I have yet to receive".
In his stories, Langdon often is forced to utilize his knowledge of symbols and religious history to prevent world changing truths from being revealed. In the course of such investigations, though, he often points out the inconsistencies between what the symbols really mean, and the actions of the antagonist. Through this, Langdon not only keeps the truth hidden at least another day, but also reveals the perpetrator to the authorities.
