After three days, Conan still has no leads on the men in black.
Someone is stalking Yoko.
They arrive at Yoko's Apartment and find a dead body.
Inspector Megure arrives at the scene and asks Yoko and her agent, Mr. Yamagishi, if they know the victim.
When Yoko and Mr. Yamagishi takes a closer look, Mr. Yamagishi slips. Conan realizes that he slipped onto the body on purpose and took something.
Conan finds an earring that Yoko recognizes as her rival, Yuko's, so they bring in Yuko for questioning.
Yuko admits she stole the spare key to find a scandal about Yoko and sell it to the tabloids.
She came in today and that man followed her in and reached for her but she fought him off and fled.
Yoko admits that she did know the victim. He was her high school boyfriend - but she didn't kill him.
Conan thinks there's a vital clue missing and finds a dent in the floor.
Conan's solved the case but the adults won't listen to him as a kid, and he can't say anything without revealing his true identity.
To reveal the truth, Conan knocks Kogoro out with an ashtray and uses the bowtie to solve the case as Kogoro.
As Kogoro, Conan explains Mr. Fujie killed himself but framed Yoko to look like she'd killed him.
Mr. Fujie turned the heater up, grabbed some hair from Yoko's brush, then jumped backwards off the chair onto the knife frozen upright in a block of ice.
The dent in the floor was made by the knife's handle on impact. The ice melted in the heat, explaining the moisture on the floor.
When Mr. Yamagishi saw the hair in Fujie's hand he thought Yoko had done it and took the hair to protect her.
Fujie followed Yuko into Yoko's apartment because they look identical from behind. Yuko thought he was attacking her and ran away. The supposed rejection from his love was the last straw for the already desperate man.
Yoko can't understand, as Fujie broke up with her. Mr. Yamagishi confesses he asked Fujie to do so Yoko for her career.
Inspector Megure concludes that "This tragic case was the result of a lie, a misunderstanding, and a no good twist of fate."
Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta agree that following Conan and seeing the case was horrible, yet exciting. They have to be friends with him!
Ran asks Conan if it's stupid for her to envy Yoko's strength. Ever since Shinichi disappeared, she hasn't been able to sleep from worry and missing him.
Conan uses the bowtie to call Ran as Shinichi and reassures her that he's safe, just solving a tough case, and will return soon.
