Situation
A boy named Rintaro asks the Detective Boys to investigate a strange man named Yuji Kamekura. Rintaro explains that Yuji appeared one day at his family restaurant claiming he owes Rintaro's grandfather a favor and would like to work at the restaurant. Yuji soon after begins living with the family and helps them improve the restaurant to the point the family are constantly busy with the costumers. The Detective Boys investigate and all but Conan are convinced Yuji is planning to dig a tunnel into a store to steal merchandise. The Detective Boys learn from a manager of a jewelry store that a robbery occurred five years ago and the thief was never caught.

- The Red-Headed League is a Sherlock Holmes Short story.
- This is the first, if not the only case that was solved more by the Detective Boys, rather than Conan, due to the simple-mindedness of the culprit.
- This is the first case with a truly simple culprit.
- This is the first case that the culprit's plan was so transparent that first graders could solve it.
- Mitsuhiko was the first Detective Boy that actually cracked this case.
- Although the Detective Boys did solve this case, it was still cracked and really solved by Mitsuhiko, with Genta and Ayumi following his lead.
