Plot
Kogoro Mouri tails a man named Masaki Negishi for three days in a row and gets paid a considerable amount of money for it. But then a corpse is found which gets identified as Negishi according to the news, which is seemingly impossible, since that person must have died before Kogoro's job observing him ended...
Continuity
- The chapter plays out over two days. Ran Mouri visited Hiroshi Agasa on the first one off-panel, while Conan Edogawa met Kogoro Mouri tailing "Masaki Negishi", which was the third day he did this. On the evening of the second day, at 8 pm, the corpse of the real Negishi gets found in the fire of the Akanoni Village Festival.
- Tenth chapter of the so-called "Conan Arc", a fan-coined term.
Referencing
- The Great Detective Turned Small (Manga: 2): Ran Mouri inquires Hiroshi Agasa about the whereabouts of Conan Edogawa's (fictional) parents he told her about during the second chapter.
Cameos
- Masaki Negishi is directly named after one of Gosho Aoyama's assistants.

"The long-running anime I've seen for the first time, Puss in Boots."
(Translation by justwantanaccount)
Trivia
- Conan Edogawa's walking pose on the chapter cover is identical to the pose Yaiba Kurogane (and sometimes Sayaka Mine) made on a couple of Yaiba artworks, reminiscent of figures on traffic signs and lights.
