According to Conan, after recovering, the vicitim, Eijri Futoshi, became "as energetic as ever."[1] He becomes friends with Agasa and the Detective Boys, due to all of them helping to save his life in the case.[1] He even volunteers to watch over Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys and help them in fishing, while Agasa runs an important errand, in a future episode.[1] Also, the fisherman who drove the boat that helped take Futoshi to the hospital, also appears again, where he helps Conan, Subaru Okiya, and the Detective Boys solve a murder case.[1]
