TMS Entertainment

TMS Entertainment, Ltd. (株式会社トムス エンタテインメント Kabushiki-gaisha Tomusu Entateinmento?), formerly known as Tokyo Movie Shinsha (東京ムービー新社 Tōkyō Mūbī Shinsha?) (and also known as Tokyo Movie or TMS-Kyokuchi, a subsidiary of Sega Sammy since 2005), is a Japanese animation studio, founded on October 1946 as textile manufacturer, before ventured into the animation industry in 1964. One of the oldest and most prominent anime studios in Japan, it has also produced numerous animated series airing in other countries such as France, the United States, and Italy. The company currently uses "TMS Entertainment, Ltd." as its corporate name, however the animation studio itself is referred to as Tokyo Movie (東京ムービー Tōkyō Mūbī?). The company also has a fully-owned subsidiary, Telecom Animation Film, which often co-animates shows with TMS. The company is most notable by American animation fans for its higher quality of work than competing overseas animation houses - often direct comparisons can be made between episodes of the same animated series - as in productions like Tiny Toon Adventures.

Since 1996, TMS has been in charge of producing Detective Conan anime series, and later the movie series. TMS is also in charge of producing anime adapation of Gosho Aoyama's Collection of Short Stories, the first anime adaptation of Magic Kaito under the name Magic Kaito: Kid the Phantom Thief, and the anime adaptation of Zero's Tea Time and Hanzawa the Criminal.

In 2011, TMS established V1 Studio, a studio specifically in charge of producing Detective Conan anime and movie series. After going through reorganization in 2021, the studio's name is changed to 1st Studio (第1スタジオ Dai Ichi Sutajio?).

Since 2023, TMS's 7STUDIO is in charge of producing Detective Conan compilation movies.

A-1 Pictures

A-1 Pictures Inc. (株式会社A-1 Pictures Kabushiki gaisha Ē-wan Pikuchāzu?) is a Japanese animation studio founded by ex-Sunrise producer Mikihiro Iwata and it is a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan's anime production firm Aniplex.

The studio was in charge of the second anime adaptation of Magic Kaito under the name Magic Kaito 1412.
