Takashi Saijo (西城 隆詞 Saijō Takashi?) is a Japanese animator from Hokkaido. He does key animation and animation director works in Detective Conan anime and OVAs. He is affiliated with Tama Production.

Biography

In 1965, Takashi Saijo was involved in the production of Uchuu Patrol Hopper (宇宙パトロールホッパ) and Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム) via the studio Hatena Production (ハテナプロ). In the same year, he entered the company found by his brother, Eiji Tanaka, Tama Production (タマ・プロダクション).

After all of that, he finally began to serve as a key animator for anime works such as Speed Racer (マッハGoGoGo) and Judo Boy (紅三四郎), via the animation company Tatsunoko Production (タツノコプロ). In 1982, after his brother had passed away, Saijo was still active as a main animator of Tama Production. In 1997, Saijo became an animation director for the first time, in the anime Zenderman (ゼンダマン). In 1986, he served as the chief animation director and character designer for Go-Q-Chōji Ikkiman (剛Q超児イッキマン). He had cooperated with the director of that anime, Nobutaka Nishizawa, for 14 years, since Shonan Bakusozoku (湘南爆走族).

In the Detective Conan anime production, Saijo was only involved in the production of Detective Conan anime in 2004, in which he only did key animation for The City Crows. Furthermore, he was also involved in the production of two OVAs, in 2004 and 2008 respectively, along with Akira Watanabe.
