Kaitou Kid suddenly appears to commit heists after an eight year hiatus! Meanwhile, high schooler Kaito Kuroba discovers a secret room inside his house and a silk hat and mantle that belonged to his deceased father, Toichi Kuroba. Donning the outfit Kaito confronts Kaitou Kid and learns the truth about his father's death. Discovering his father was murdered, Kaito continues to commit heists as the new Kaitou Kid in order to learn the identities of his father's murderers. In the meantime, Kaito will have to contend with a visiting Princess and her trigger-happy bodyguard, a robot designed to look and act like him, surviving a date with Aoko while keeping his identity a secret, a pirate and his treasure buried under the sea, and a witch obsessed with forcing every boy to love her. Kaito Kuroba/Kaitou Kid, Aoko Nakamori, Ginzo Nakamori, Toichi Kuroba, Konosuke Jii, Keiko Momoi, and Akako Koizumi are all introduced. Aoko invites Kaito on a date to Tropical Land in an attempt to prove to her father that Kaito is not Kaitou Kid. Kaito realizing Aoko is in danger, despite being afraid to death of fish, scuba dives in the ocean to rescue her from a pirate. Akako attempts to get Kaito to fall in love with her using magic.

No summary yet Saguru Hakuba is introduced. Kaito finally learns why his father was killed as well as information about the doublet gem Pandora. Kaito makes it his new goal as Kid to find and destroy the gem before Snake and his organization find and use it. Hakuba takes a liking to Aoko and even tries to take her for a date. Kaito and Aoko share good chemistry together in this volume.
