Biography
After graduating from Kochi Private Middle and High School and Nihon University College of Art's faculty of broadcasting, before attending classes with the affiliate schools of voice acting agencies Aoni Productions and Mausu Promotion[1]. Ono initially enrolled in university in a television production program, but switched to radio production, an interest he had since high school, after he found himself unable to direct large groups[1]. He ended up helping out a friend with sounds effects for various radio productions[1],[4]. Once when his friend was shortstaffed, he ended up as a performer in the program and since then has aimed to become a voice actor[1].
His first voice acting job was when he voiced an elderly man for Tohokushinsha. He received his first lead role job in 2005 as Yukito Kunisaki in the video game AIR[4]. In 2008, he won the best supporting voice actor award at the 2nd Seiyuu Awards, and later the Best voice actor award at the 4th ceremony in 2010[5],[6], and started being recognized for his voice acting talent nationwide. His first voice acting gig in Detective Conan was on March 2005, and he would voice another anime-original character in June 2016. Later that year, he was selected to be the voice for Muga Iori for movie 21, a role that would later become recurring. In February 2016, he left Mausu Promotion, the agency he was affiliated since his start, and started as a freelancer.
His career as a singer started in 2007 when he released his mini-album Hinemosu.
Since he is from Kochi Prefecture, he speaks in Tosa-ben[7] and has been involved with promoting his hometown Sakawa[8].
