| At the beginning, we see Shinya turning around Yoshi's stuff trying to find money after having knocked her out. Since he found nothing, he was going to leave until Yoshi woke up again and was then knocked out a second time. Panicked, Shinya runs out of the house and leaves with the only valuable he had found: a space museum souvenir coin.

After running past the bridge, Shinya happens to be in a residential district where by accident, he runs into Genta and pushes him out of the way but as he was turning the corner, he ran into a man and fell unconscious with the man after falling from a hill. After Yoshi regained consciousness, she calls the police who then deploy Takagi and Chiba to find a man that was wearing a red jacket and jeans. Genta and the Detective Boys, who were nearby, saw Takagi and asked him what happened. Takagi explains them roughly what happened and Genta immediately remembers who the man was.

When the Detective Boys refer to him as "Gonta", the amnesiac remembers that his name is Taro Gonno. Although he was framed for the robbery by Shinya Torimaru, both men were guilty of robbing the house. After losing his job, Gonno had been hired by Masuzo Ujihara to rob Yoshi Koda. As she was an older woman living alone, the job was supposed to be easy. The idea of being a thief very much excited Gonno, but unbeknownst to him and Ujihara, their conversation was overheard by Torimaru. While ransacking the home for things of value, Gonno heard another person break in. After fleeing the crime scene without being noticed by the new intruder, Gonno twisted his ankle while running and had to stop.

- Haibara, when naming the suspect, called Genta by his first name, which she usually doesn't.
- The car is a 2005 orange Suzuki Swift [ZC]. The license plate number is 新宿 530, せ 29-40 (Shinjuku 530, Se 29-40).
