Gakuto Nogi (乃木 岳人 Nogi Gakuto) is a character in the anime franchise Detective Conan.
Background
Gakuto Nogi is the VP (vice-president) of Tsukuba Corporation. He murdered the president Shunichi Tsukuba and disguised his death as a suicide. Even though he made a good murder plan and used Shunichi’s suicide plot, his guilt is exposed when he mentioned details of Sadako and Tsukuba’s phone call, even if he supposedly didn’t know, meaning that he was the one who made the phone call. He finally is shown as an evil man who only killed him for ruining his “self-confident” image.
Personality
He is shown first as a serious man without any relevance, but had a tense relationship with the president Tsukuba, as Nogi was part of the 2nd generation of Tsukuba Corporation, and was angry with his selfishness. He also held a grudge for Tsukuba, as his arrogant and self-confident facet was heavily annoying, that’s why he finally had it and made a murder plan to kill Tsukuba.
Appearance
He is an old-looking man in his late 50s. He has gray hair on his sides and big eyebrows and has brown eyes. He is seen wearing a formal olive green suit.

Plot overview
He is first shown in the meeting of the committee with Tsukuba, as he thought he probably had a new project for the company. After the murder, when the police were doing deductions and investigating, he suddenly appears and confesses he made a phone call to Sadako Machigawa, where he also revealed some details from Tsukuba and Sadako’s conversation. He immediately clarifies that he isn’t the supposed culprit X, and mentioned that Tsukuba was only using a facet of being strong, but in reality he was a loser. Sleeping Kogoro already has solved the case, and the culprit is Gakuto Nogi, who held a grudge towards Tsukuba’s arrogant facet and wanted to show the world how he was a loser, and carefully planned the murder using also Tsukuba’s plan. He is heavily scolded by Megure and Sadako, and finally arrested.
