Lucufer (ルシュファー Rushufā?) (sometimes transliterated as "Lucifer", which would actually be ルシファー (Rushifā)) is a Kami[1][2] appearing in the Magic Kaito franchise, getting summoned by Akako Koizumi, usually to get premonitions about the future of Kaitou Kid. He seems to be an abstract deity of evil and is an allusion to the western conception of Lucifer. Summoning him seems to be a highly debilitating act for Akako.[3]

Like Akako herself, he's not a canon character in the world of Detective Conan.[4][5]

Plot overview

Magic Kaito plot overview

Would You Grow Up? (MK Manga: 10, MKS: 4, MK1412: 8)

Akako summons Lucufer to get a premonition about Kaitou Kid's fate the following night. He vaguely tells her that he will "forge a path through the heavens and meet his fate" on that full moon night atop the "red tower", before Akako rips apart the ofuda and sends Lucufer back to hell. In the end, she doesn't manage to get a hold of Kid.[1]

Black Star (MK Manga: 23, Anime: 219, MK1412: 6)

Before his next heist, Akako reveals to Kaito Kuroba that she talked to Lucufer, who warned her about Kid entering the clock tower, since a "man of light", with a will power just as strong as Kuroba's, would come from the east when the bell tolls for the 20,000th time, signaling that Kaitou Kid would be caught. This premonition doesn't come true, either.[2]

Sun Halo (MK Manga: 34-36)

Akako summons Lucufer again, this time to get information about the place Kaitou Kid and Aoko Nakamori were taken to. She gets an important hint which she relays to Saguru Hakuba, who wants to know her source, which she truthfully answers. His reaction isn't shown, though.[3]

The Splendid Rivals (MKS: 7)

Omake Manga (MK Manga: Volume 5 Omake)

Director Gosho Aoyama declares the "film shooting" of Sun Halo as finished. During this, Kogoro Mouri can be seen as an actor, emerging from the costume of Lucufer.

Trivia

Kogoro Mouri is playing Lucufer in Magic Kaito.
  • The fact that he's explicitely described as the "Kami of Evil" by Akako Koizumi could imply that he is also identical to Amatsumikaboshi, the Kami of Evil in Japanese mythology. Fittingly enough, he's also associated with Venus, just like Lucifer.
  • Lucufer is one of the elements of Magic Kaito - besides Chikage Kuroba and the Nakamori residence - that got a drastic redesign later on, looking more like a dark, muscular humanoid figure with pupilless eyes and wings instead of a vague being consisting of nothing but flames. In his case though, it can probably be explained away by him being a Kami who's got the ability to change his appearance at will.
  • In the metafictional Omake of Magic Kaito, it is shown that he is played by the same "actor" as Kogoro Mouri.
