• Mr. Akai and Mrs. Sera are born and married. Mrs. Sera takes her husband's surname Akai.
• >28 years ago: Shuichi Akai is born.
• 28 years ago: Shukichi Akai is born.
• 17 years ago: Kohji Haneda is killed with some formulation of APTX 4869. Shukichi is 11.
• 16-17 years ago: Masumi Akai is born in Japan. At this time, Shukichi is approximately 11-12 and in junior high.
• Sometime after Masumi is conceived, her father dies. The time of the father's death is uncertain, but Masumi implies it affected the family names.
• >14-15 years ago: Masumi and Shukichi start using the family name Sera instead of Akai.
• 14-15 years ago: Shukichi enters high school with the family name Sera. Shukichi is 13-14 and Masumi is ~2.

Shukichi's high school years

Since Japanese high school is only three years in length, and Shukichi was in his 3rd year during this 10 year ago flashback, wouldn't his entering into high school be only roughly 12-13 years ago?
Example:
Year 1 = 12 years ago
Year 2 = 11 years ago
Year 3 = 10 years ago....
Then graduating some time during that year so that he still meets Yumi roughly 10 years ago, but with his name already changed to Haneda.

After combining it all, I imagined it going something like this:

> 12 years ago Shuukichi enters High school with the family name Sera (High School in Japan is 3 years, so 12 years ago, 11 years ago and graduating at the end of 10 years ago)

I am a bit confused about what you want to change, but Mary's Masumi pregnancy is longer than a year according to this formulation. Also Year 1 is ages 6-7. Year 10 is ages 15-16. Year 12 is 17-18. So do you want an adjustment like this? Chekhov MacGuffin ^talk 07:28, 1 October 2016 (CEST)

I meant, Japanese High school lasts for 3 years.

Year 1 of High school (Shukichi age 15-16) = 12 years ago

Year 2 of High school (Shukichi age 16-17) = 11 years ago

Year 3 of High school (Shukichi age 17-18) = 10 years ago <-- information in Beach case says Shukichi is in 3rd year of HS, 10 years ago.

but yeah, basically that edit where it says entered high school 12-13 years ago.

As for Mary's pregnancy, I was meaning that Mary would have gotten pregnant somewhere around 17 years to 17 and 1/2 years ago. Then giving birth 9 months later during a point that is less than 17 years ago (16 years and some months). EXAMPLE: Mary becoming pregnant in July of the year, 17 years ago. Then giving birth to Masumi 9 months later (jul > aug > sept > oct > nov > dec > jan > feb > mar), which would be 16 years and 9 months ago, which is still less than 17 total years ago, so I labeled it as "16 years ago". In this example, the Kouji case would just have to happen some time just before Mary's belly started to swell to show her pregnancy and before the year change.
