About if Shukichi ever used Akai as a family name, in the red woman case (872p3), Conan asks Masumi "Then, before your last name became Sera, could it have possibly been--" - interrupted by Sonoko saying "Akai". Masumi never answered the question because Gosho is a tease, but its likely the answer was "yes" judging by Masumi's reaction. If she used it, Shukichi probably did too.
