yu-yu (ゆゆ / 友癒 yu-yu?)[N 1], real name unknown, is a Japanese singer based in Kyoto.

Biography

yu-yu's artist name comes "friends" (友) and the hyphen symbolizes "joining hands together". The youngest of three sisters, she grew up surrounded with music. After graduating from Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts, she debuted in 2010 with her single "Always", which reached number 8 on the national musical charts[1].

In 2011, she was selected to sing the theme song for the Challenge Letter to Shinichi Kudo drama series and later in November 2013 was selected as the theme song performer for Bandai Namco's video game God Eater 2[2]. Later in February 2014 she sung the theme song for animated movie Buddha 2. After her concert, on June 3, 2014, she announced that she was taking a break from her singing career and closed her blog and social media accounts[3].

Despite still being on hiatus, she has released limited-edition songs, including "Hoshikuzu no Sunadokei", which reached third place on the Oricon charts[4]. She got married in 2017 and now runs a café in Saijō, Ehime, with her husband.
