File 001: Three hats

The manga starts with Amuro preparing to go and getting into Café Poirot. He starts making cold-brew coffee and repairs a chair. Azusa then gets in too and comments Amuro is early. While Azusa and Amuro are talking, a grandma who is a regular customer comes in and orders assorted sandwiches with plain water. Azusa is worried since she used to love Poirot's coffee. Later, Azusa serves her order and Mrs Tsuruyama says she is thoughtful for making it hot water. She also thanks her for making the chair comfortable, which makes Azusa wondering what she meant by hot water and chair.

Azusa then serves pasta for herself and Amuro, which he then quickly starts eating. She asks him if he prefers bread for breakfast, judging from his looks and since he is blonde. He tells her that she needs to dig deeper to make logical sense. Azusa then mentions Amuro's jobs, and he's not just wearing two hats at once, but three. Amuro smiles and responds he learns from all of them to reach a single goal.

Later at Amuro's apartment, pictures of Moroboshi Dai, Shiho Miyano, and Conan Edogawa is shown on his table. He then gets into his car and says "Forget three, I could act out a hundred different faces. If I was who I was before... I always think of... Akai Shuichi... If only I could forget about you..." with a scowling face.

    Continuity

    In "Three Hats"

    In "You Can't Sleep?"

    • To Detective Conan, Tennis Meetup (Manga: 825-827): The beginning of the chapter is a direct tie-in to the end of File 827, continuing Rei Furuya's conversation with Vermouth. This would, in conjunction with Time 1, place Time 2-6 between File 824 and 825 (between Episode 704 and 705 in the Anime) of Detective Conan.

In "I'll Clean You Right Up"

    • To Detective Conan, When Objects Collide (Manga: 800): When Rei Furuya remembers the things he experienced with his Mazda FD RX-7, one of them is the moment from File 800 (Episode 674 in the Anime) he grabbed Ran Mouri next to him before making a sharp turn to stop the criminal's car.
    • To Detective Conan, Zero the Enforcer (Movie: 22): Rei also remembers the crash he caused in that movie with his RX-7.

    In "You Can't"

    • To Detective Conan, Black Bunny's Club Case (Manga: 1009-1012, Anime: 952-954): Rei Furuya again reminisces part of his flashback about Elena Miyano he finally remembered during that case in Detective Conan.

    Crossover

    Haro encounters Dokuro from Yaiba.

    Yaiba

After falling down a flight of stairs, Rei Furuya's pup Haro meets Kuro Neko Dokuro, a stray cat and antagonist from a short arc during Chapter 164-167 of Yaiba (Yaiba Volume 16, Chapter 10-Yaiba Volume 17, Chapter 2), whom Yaiba Kurogane and Sayaka Mine were encountering while they were shrunk and he was menacing a bunch of mice. It seems like he didn't improve much since then: He scratches poor Haro's face open. The Mangaka of Zero's Tea Time, Takahiro Arai, confirmed that he specifically asked Gosho Aoyama about using that character in this chapter.
