Situation
Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are meeting Souhei Tatsumi, a well-known lawyer with many large corporations as clients, who's office is in a luxury hotel. While there, Conan picks up a phone call from Souhei's wife, Kazumi Tatsumi. During the phone call, a musical melody is heard from Kazumi's side. Souhei takes over the phone call and tells his wife he will call later and asks Conan and Ran to leave so he may talk with Kogoro. Kogoro returns telling Ran and Conan he took Souhei's request to spy on Kazumi and her affair. On the way home, they spot police cars in front of a house and decide to investigate. They found out it is Souhei Tatsumi's house. Inside they learn that Kazumi was found dead in the bathtub.

Conan suspects Souhei to be the murderer but Kogoro confirms his alibi. Conan investigates the hotels and learns the hotel room beside Souhei's is reserved for guests and also learns the musical melody from a musical box alarm clock is custom made for that hotel. At Kazumi's funeral, a man named Shunzou Hirose reveals he was Kazumi's lover.
