Case

Situation

One night, Ran and Conan search for Kogoro in a bar, and accompany him back home. While walking, they hear a fight in an apartment. The next day, a murder in the same apartment is reported.

Conan finds out that Hiroshi Nakamoto is the culprit. He's lying and is trying to trick Kogoro into proving his false alibi. All the evidence were tampered by the murderer and in directing a loop onto proving his innocence, he shifts the blame to Professor Idemura which he holds grudge upon because he sold their research. After a witness, Azusa, confirms his presence on giving Kogoro the restaurant ad, it ensures his time at the "imaginary fight scene", Nakamoto can then asked the detective to do his deduction bidding rather than "leaving it to chances". Nakamoto conceded his guilt with the mistakes on his own words and was fooled by the detective as he laughed comically. Nakamoto was planning to take all the credit of the research for himself. His friend was in the way of his fame and fortune.

• In this case, Azusa has a completely different makeover from her previous appearance.
