Case

Situation

Ran just won a trip to Kanazawa and decides to go there along with Kogoro and Conan.

Part 1

There, they meet a mysterious lady, Mari Hayashi, who reveals herself to be quite rich. They help her get to the location she wants and later head there by themselves. As they arrive, they see a robber trying to steal the heavy bag Mari was carrying and rapidly stop him. As they ask her about the bag's contents, she just nods and goes away. Later, they meet her again and ask her where was her bag as she was walking empty-handed. She reveals to them that Manabu Saikawa, who works for her family has been kidnapped and that the bag had the ransom money, 30 Million Yen. The four of them then go to the ransom location to find out the money has been taken.

Kidnapping
	Location: Kanazawa Victim: Manabu Saikawa Age: 55 years old Time: Morning Ransom amount: 30 Million Yen Suspects: Soichi Hayashi, Mari Hayashi, Yuko Kaede, Takumi Kondo and Rintaro Hagino In the morning, while Yuko Kaede was working, she received a call saying that Saikawa was kidnapped and that a ransom was to be given so Saikawa could be freed.

After going to the Hayashis' house to investigate, Kogoro gathers all suspects to reveal that Saikawa staged his own kidnapping so he could get the money. Saikawa then angrily throws the bag at them and runs away.

Attempted Murder

Part 2

The next morning, the police carries Soichi away and tell the people involved that Soichi will recover. Kogoro and Conan find some gold dust on the crime scene and deduce that Takumi Kondo might be involved with it since he works in gold crafting. Kondo reveals he only went to meet him and didn't hit him. Back at the house, they receive a call saying that Rintaro Hagino was kidnapped. By listening to the call, Conan deduces they have to go to Komatsu, which has the only airport in the area and that Hagino must be held captive there. At the train station's entrance, Conan and Ran stumble across Saikawa, who was trying to go by undetected and they chase him to a house where Kogoro is in front of, having been given the authority to bring Hagino's ransom money.

Kidnapping
	Location: House in Komatsu Victim: Rintaro Hagino Age: 34 years old Time: Morning Suspects: Manabu Saikawa A call to the Hayashi mansion was made, saying that Hagino was kidnapped.

They arrive at the house along with Kaede, Kondo, Mari and the police which have been called to come. Kogoro finds Hagino and unties him asking him where was Saikawa. There, Conan stuns Kogoro with his wristwatch to expel the truth.

The culprit for attempting to kill Soichi Hayashi is Rintaro Hagino.

Attempted murder
290px	Location: House in Komatsu Victim: Manabu Saikawa Age: 55 years old Time: Afternoon Injury: Blood loss Culprit: Rintaro Hagino Hagino met with his accomplice and then struck him and hid him in the closet, waiting for him to die.

He also tried to let Manabu Saikawa, his accomplice for stealing the ransom, die of blood loss inside a cupboard. Although not stated, the robber who tried to snatch Mari's ransom bag was likely Hagino.

Aftermath

After both Hagino and Saikawa are arrested, President Hayashi has a self reflection as his action was directly and indirectly responsible what had transpired, and the company is likely to be in a jeopardy due to the loss of two of their skilled printed silk makers. Mari however, comforts her father and states that she shall now takes the family's business more seriously and decides to follow in Saikawa's footstep and becomes a printed silk maker herself, thought Conan notes to himself that Mari still have a long way to go in improving her artistic ability.

• The taxi used by Mari Hayashi to go to her ransom location is a dark blue Toyota Crown. The license plate is 加賀 530, あ 20-60 (Kaga 530, A 20-60).
• The taxi used by Mari to go to Komatsu is another dark blue Toyota Crown. Its license plate is 加賀 500, あ 47-09 (Kaga 500, A 47-09).
