The man asks him who he is and Conan tells him that he can stop playing dumb and that first, he took off his flat cap and jacket and hid them in a bag he bought at the store but he had to change his pants at the changing room which is why Conan waited for him there. The man tries to explain himself by saying that he is going to change so he can go clam digging but Conan tells him that it's late in the afternoon and that people are going to leave which wouldn't leave him enough time to dig for clams. Conan tells him that even if he tries to explain himself, there is the price tag still on the hat which prooves he had put the hat hastily and to trick him, he says that the strap sticks out from his bag to which the man replies that it is well hidden in the bag and takes it out making himself exposed. The man then tries to run but Conan kicks his ball on him and knocks him out while the DBs keeps him from running away by blocking him making Amuro impressed.

The man asks Conan who he is, but he simply tells him that he can stop playing dumb. Conan fist explains that the man could change his flat cap and jacket at the beach store, but there was no way of changing out of his pants without going to the changing room. The man tries to explain himself by saying that he's changing so he can go clam digging, but Conan rebuts that it's late in the afternoon; everyone is beginning to leave and it's too late to start. Conan then points out the price tag attached to is hat which, proving that he had just bought and put on the hat. Conan finishes by saying that the strap is sticking out from his bag. The man then checks and smugly replies that it is fully hidden in the bag, ultimately exposing himself. The man tries to escape but Conan knocks him out with his soccer ball. Amuro comments on Conan's Power Enhancing Kick Shoes.

At the end, they are able to return the strap but it was all dirty since it was run over by a car so they washed it and they drew an eye with a permanent marker since it was gone making Haibara angry and not wanting to give him any antidote. Professor Agasa then treats the Detective Boys by giving them refreshments and Subaru asks himself where is the driver of the RX-7 (Amuro) so he can confront him.</spoiler>

The mysterious man turns out to be innocent. There were two Higo phone straps bought at the stadium, and the man also dropped his on the train, which was picked up by the boy and his father. Haibara's strap had actually been in Genta's hood, until it dropped out in a parking when it started raining. At the end, they are able to return the strap but it was partially destroyed, having been run over by a car. The DBs washed it and drew a replacement eye with a permanent marker. Haibara looks at the strap as her excitement turns into disgust and horror, refusing Conan's pleas to give him the antidote. Professor Agasa treats the Detective Boys for finding the strap, and Subaru asks about the driver of the RX-7 (Amuro) for a confrontation.</spoiler>
