"The Brilliant Rivals" (華麗なるライバルたち Kareinaru Raibaru-tachi) is an animated special for Magic Kaito based on the second chapter from the third Magic Kaito volume. It is scheduled to air in August as part of the 2012 Kaitou Kid's Summer Festival (夏の怪盗キッド祭り Natsu no Kaitō Kiddo Matsuri) event.

Story
In London, the famous detective, Saguru Hakuba has solved another case. His signature question is "How come you did that?"
On the news, Ginzo Nakamori is reading about him. The policeman is curious about Hakuba arresting Kid but Nakamori does not allow it because the one who will arrest Kid is him only. The challenge letter from Kaitou Kid has arrived and he's going to steal the painting called the Adam's Smile.
