Background
Sayaka is the only child of Raizo and Shizuka Mine, the youngest member of the Mine family and a normal middle school student who has unfortunately become wrapped up in Yaiba's adventures. She always travels with him and usually plays the straightman of the group. She seems to have feelings for Yaiba, although she is unwilling to admit it. Because she is descended from the youngest Dragon Priestess, the Moon Empress Kaguya wishes to use her body to regain her own youth. She's often accompanied by the sea cucumber Namako-Otoko after him joining Yaiba's group and mostly sits on her shoulder or inside her collar.
Personality
She is usually a kind, cheerful and friendly person, but sometimes she gots angry and she can be dangerous and scary. She is shown to love Yaiba like he loves her.

Detective Conan
Lover Code Case (Manga: 1039-1042)
The Detective Boys play a platformer videogame featuring Yaiba Kurogane and Sayaka Mine in file 1039 while they are at Agasa's house. Their running pose in a line also is a little bit reminiscent of the walking pose they have on the cover of Yaiba Volume 1.[3]
Non-canon Magic Kaito/Detective Conan overview
Conan vs. Kid vs. Yaiba (Magic Kaito Manga: 18, Anime: OVA 1)
Sayaka goes with her mother to hire Kogoro when Kaitou Kid threatens to steal their treasured sword. When Kid finally breaks in he accidentally falls through her bedroom roof while she is undressing. Although defensive at first, a kiss on the cheek from Kid puts her in a love trance and she willingly tells him where the sword is.
In the original Magic Kaito chapter, she first appears when Kid falls into her room and later tries to stop her father from attacking him. At the end of the chapter she is shown treating Yaiba's wounds from his fight with Kid.
Trivia
- She got the second place in the Character Popularity Poll from Yaiba Volume 23 with 2788 votes.
References
- ^ Sayaka is in the second year of middle/junior high school, corresponding with an age of 13 - 14. This is later on corroborated by Yaiba Kurogane being 14, who's around similar age and briefly attends the same class as her.
- ^ The epilogue in Chapter 255 (Yaiba Volume 24, Chapter 12) is set three years after Chapter 254, with Sayaka in the second year of high school. Both confirms that she has to be 16 or 17 now.
