|summary=Heiji and Kazuha arrive at the Mouri Detective agency revealing he was hired by a man named Shinichi Inubushi, one of the eight illegitimate children of the rich Tsunechika Inubushi. After Tsunechika's death, the health of his wife, Satomi, begins to fail and subsequently two of the illegitimate children are murdered. Believing the murderer is after the inheritance, Shinichi surrenders his share and takes up his mother's surname, Kudo, and has Heiji investigate the murders. Heiji and Conan drop by Kudo's home only to find out from his personal care assistant, Funae Abukawa, that he is asleep. After half an hour, they discover Kudo dead from Carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a single charcoal burner. Their investigation reveals Abukawa is the murderer, as Kudo's body revealed he died much earlier and a single charcoal burner would take too long to fill the entire room. Abukawa confesses to have set up the crime scene but explains she found Kudo dead in his closet and was threatened by the murderer to cover that fact. Heiji and Conan discover a pink pearl in Kudo's mouth and perceive it as a dying message to indicate the murderer.}}

After examining the security of the safe, Kaitou Kid's card, in its usual style, is found confirming Kaitou Kid's plan to open the safe. Conan suspects that Kaitou Kid is one of the three newly hired workers of Jirokichi. Jirokichi however countinues to proclaim it to be the work of an imposter, causing Conan to suspect Jirokichi's behavior.

|summary= Conan and Heiji decide to pay a visit to the Inubushi Castle along with Kogoro, Ran and Kazuha to find out more about the dying message. On the way there, they almost drive off a cliff but they are warned by Miyuki Inubushi; one of the adopted children and they stopped just in time. Miyuki leads them to the house where they meet three more of the eight adopted children: Takako Inubushi, Tomoaki Inubushi and Yoshiya Inubushi. They also hear about one of the myths of a blazed demon dog that has cursed the Inubushi Castle. The myth states that one of the ancestors burned a dog alive when the only daughter of the Inubushi family went missing. They searched for her but when the Inubushi dog came back with the daughter in it's jaws, injured and near death; the master of the house whipped the dog endlessly and then set it on fire. But when the daughter regained consciousness, she told the master that the dog saved her as she was lost in the mountains and collapsed. But he regretted his actions and made proper grave for the dog; the next day, there was a fire and the only one that did not make it out of the fire was the master. Since then, it was said that the castle has been cursed. When Conan, Heiji, Kogoro, Ran, Kazuha and Miyuki go to see the grave of the demon dog below the cliff, Saki, one of the adopted children; goes over the cliff with her bicycle and falls right in front of them and claims that she was chased by a fiery demon dog, she dies later because of this. They all find out that near the murders of the other children, there were some sort of spheres near by so Conan and Heiji go to investigate.}}

They reveal that after dinner, two places are always missing and Jirokichi always brings his cane with him to the safe. Jirokichi asks the maid for a hand and they head to his room. Jirokichi leaves with his bodyguard for a drive. Shortly after, an unconscious Jirokichi is found tied up and his room and a note of Kaitou Kid is found on the safe. This causes the whole police force that are guarding the safe to abandon their position and chase after "Jirokichi". Conan meanwhile enters the room with the safe revealing the maid was Kaitou Kid in disguise. Conan reveals the first message by "Kaitou Kid" was actually done by Jirokichi asking for Kaitou's kid assistance. Conan also reveals Jirokichi purposely placed suspicion on himself in order to clear the area of cops so Kaitou Kid can open the safe. Inside the safe is revealed to be Jirokichi's dog, Lupin.

Learning that Miyuki might be the suspect both Kazuha and Ran went to Heiji and Con's futon only to learn that they are not there. When they left their room they learned that Miyuki left the house leaving behind a letter that she would atone for the killings that she've done. All them looked for Miyuki and arrived at the cabin that they previously found and saw Miyuki's motorcycle there. The demon dog later appeared and charged towards the cabin but Conan bravely stands on its path. They later learned that it is just an ordinary dog dressed in a cloth called "imitation fire". Later Con and Heiji deduced that Tomoaki is the culprit, faking his accident with the demon dog and framing Miyuki as the culprit. Season 20 aired in 2015. This year, there were a total of 41 episodes: 19 for manga adaptation; 22 for anime-original. Remastered broadcast for 7 weeks. TV Special Happy New Year, Kogoro Mouri aired in regular schedule for 1 week. There were breaks totalling to 3 weeks.

The culprit reveals his motive was revenge.

Jirokichi Suzuki receives a letter from Kaitou Kid which reveals that Kid plans on opening Jirokichi's impenetrable safe, the Iron Tanuki. The letter however is not written in Kid's usual style raising the ideal that an imposter is after Jirokichi's safe. Sonoko invites Ran, Kogoro, and Conan to Jirokichi's house. After examining the security of the safe, Kaitou Kid's card, in its usual style, is found confirming Kaitou Kid's plan to open the safe. Conan suspects that Kaitou Kid is one of the three newly hired workers of Jirokichi. Jirokichi however countinues to proclaim it to be the work of an imposter, causing Conan to suspect Jirokichi's behavior.

The nearly hired maid and adviser inform Conan of Jirokichi's strange behavior. They reveal that after dinner, two places are always missing and Jirokichi always brings his cane with him to the safe. Jirokichi asks the maid for a hand and they head to his room. Jirokichi leaves with his bodyguard for a drive. Shortly after, an unconscious Jirokichi is found tied up and his room and a note of Kaitou Kid is found on the safe. This causes the whole police force that are guarding the safe to abandon their position and chase after "Jirokichi". Conan meanwhile enters the room with the safe revealing the maid was Kaitou Kid in disguise. Conan reveals the first message by "Kaitou Kid" was actually done by Jirokichi asking for Kaitou's kid assistance. Conan also reveals Jirokichi purposely placed suspicion on himself in order to clear the area of cops so Kaitou Kid can open the safe. Inside the safe is revealed to be Jirokichi's dog, Lupin.

This episode begins with a flashback outside Haido Central Hospital, where Tooru Amuro obtains information from Detective Takagi regarding Rikumichi Kusuda and deduces that Rikumichi was shot by a gun.

At the present, Natsuko Shibuya, a teacher at Haido Elementary School, receives a call from Jodie Starling while grading math tests at night. Natsuko tells Jodie she needed to meet with some parents soon after. After the conversation, Andre Camel asks Jodie about Natusko, and Jodie tells him that Natusko was her acquaintance. Natsuko was involved in a case while studying abroad in America, and Jodie helped her out. Jodie also reveals that she was able to go undercover in Japan as an English teacher because Natsuko taught her Japanese.

Back at Shinichi's house, as Amuro got the news that Shuichi shot the cars down, Yusaku Kudo begins to make his speech upon being rewarded the Best Original Script award. He reveals that the man who inspired him to write "The Scarlet Investigator" was Shuichi Akai. During the speech, Ran was surprised to see Yusaku acting strangely cute.

When he picked up the photo, he thought back to two days ago, when Yumi told him she already through away the envelope he asked her to not open until he obtains all seven because he never called her ever since he gave it to her. After that small conversation, she stormed out of the cafe, where they were talking; when he came out, she was nowhere to be seen. As he tries to find her, a stranger watches him in a car, carrying an evil smile.

Conan, Shukichi, Professor Agasa, Haibara, and the Detective Boys arrive at Yureizaka and are heading towards a graveyard in the middle of that slope. The "seven" and "three" on the incense chariot piece refer to Kiyomasa's Seven Spears and the Three Great Spears of Japan. The overlapping region between the two spears represents Masanori Fukushima, a person of the Seven Spears who owns Hinomotogo, one of the Three Great Spears. The upside-down T is the cartographic symbol for graveyards.

When asked by Professor Agasa who the kidnapper may be, Shukichi thinks back to a shogi match he played against the very same culprit. That incident was the culprit's motive for kidnapping Yumi.

The child is questioning whether they can actually trust him even though she thinks he's clever, but Masumi assures her everything will be fine. After the warning, she hides in the bathroom as Masumi opens the door to welcome Conan in. The meeting fails to happen, as a result in Conan, Ran, Sonoko and Sera go enjoy the hotel pool until a case happens.
Character development Sera tells the Unknown child that they can trust Conan. They wait to meet Conan there, but that never happens as Ran and Sonoko tag along.

The two women at the counter tell them the only people who entered the pool after it was closed were Conan, Masumi, Ran, Sonoko, Raito, Hamaka, Ensaku, and the bellboys. After Nagami said she would search for the necklace alone, the first person to return to the reception area was the hotel manager, at 12:05. During that time, she was looking for her necklace, and it took a while for her to notice Ensaku was standing behind her. When she saw him, she told him he was interfering, so he left the pool quickly.

Kogoro is at Nichiuri TV Office, filming "Detective VS Weather Reporter" with Yasumi Sekine while Conan and Ran watch at the sidelines with Yukio Kodama, Takuya Yamaguchi, and Hiroko Shinohara. After the filming, Kogoro and Ran rest in a room while Conan goes to a vending machine to buy a bottle of oolong tea. As he picks up the bottle, he notices Yasumi and Yukio conversing secretly; after the small talk, they head out and split off. Then, Takuya hesitantly comes out of a room and follows Yasumi, and Conan follows him. Yasumi meets with Hiroko, who tells her the stage is good and ready. Hiroko asks her if she wanted to check the stage, but she said no because she trusted her.

Conan meets up with the kidnappers and just when he was about to defeat them, the Detective Boys arrive and are captured. The kidnappers leave and then set the room on fire. While at the concert, the Detective Boys accidentally start the music too early, and if stopped it will anger the crowd even more. Conan tries to sing but that angers the crowd. The singer then takes the Detective Boys out with her to sing.

Yukio Kanzaki, who is a clerk of Beikado Supermarket, was warned a killing twice. He asked chief Katsumi Utagawa's advice. Then, Utagawa suggested Kanzaki should visit a detective agency. Next day, Kanzaki was going to disguise as Bekapon, however, he had a stomachache, so clerk Gyosuke Shimomura disguised instead Kanzaki. However, a attempted murder case was happened, and a victim was Shimomura as Bekapon. When the case was happened, the criminal was saying "Die, Kanzaki!"

It turns out that the Detective Boys end up involved in a case again and the three suspects fit each one of the descriptions about Rum.
