- This is the second case about horses after The Tragedy at the OK Corral.
- The case is inspired by The Adventure of Silver Blaze, one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories cited during the investigation. It centered around the disappearance of a race horse the night before an important race, along with the murder of his trainer.
- The second mysterious man shows a resemblance with Kanenori Wakita, being middle-aged and having the same eyepatch.
- The taxi from SIM Taxi the three mysterious people take is a 1990 Toyota Crown Sedan. The license plate number is not visible.
- The truck is a 2002 Hino Ranger Horse Transporter. The license plate number is 新宿 120, ほ 76•24 (Shinjuku 120, Ho 76•24).
- Kozo Tokuyoshi's car is a 1997 Black Toyota Century [GZG50]. The license plate number is 新宿 300, せ 20-80 (Shinjuku 300, Se 20-80).
