Case

Situation

Because of Kogoro's love for horses, he takes Ran and Conan to an OK corral ranch in Kisarazu, a city from Chiba Prefecture. One of their prize winning horses gets spooked and they all go running after her. They reach the horse and Conan finds blood on her horseshoe. They then find the farrier, the one who shoes the horses, murdered.

They find out that Sugiyama had been meeting with a businessman, Mochizuki, who wanted to buy the ranch. They planned to ruin breeding process so that there wouldn't be any more horses that would save the ranch. Conan deduces that it wasn't an accident and that someone gave the horse chocolate which is stimulant for horses. But it wasn't the cause for the death and was a cover-up for the real criminal. The criminal is Hirohito Ninomiya and Okusu was the one who's covering for him. The murder weapon was the horseshoe that, in his haste, he put on the horse incorrectly. Hirohito confesses and had killed the farrier accidentally in self-defense after confronting him about his business dealings.

• This case is named after the famous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.
• Motoo Sugiyama's car is a 1996 red BMW Z3 [E36/7].
