Case

Situation

The teacher of the Detective Boys decides to give the class a mental test. Conan is called by the teacher so the class must solve it without him. They solve it with the help of two silent out-casted students. It turns out it was a plan to include the new students so they feel more involved.

The code contains numbers were assigned to members of the class: Mitsuhiko got the 1, Ayumi the 2, Conan the 3, Maria Higashio the 4, Genta the 5, Takuma Sakamoto the 6. Genta's number was the only one to be red. The students then found a paper with dice numbers, in the order 3-1-6-2-4-5, the 1 being the only red. As Conan was called out, Haibara had to play Conan's role to make the students work together to solve the code and called his name whenever Conan's name is mentioned in the solving process.

Resolution

Actually, the students' names were supposed to be aligned as in a shiritori game (where the last syllable of a word is the syllable that starts the following word). Genta's number was red; as a result, he was the first in the game. The game led the names to be aligned in this order: Genta (1) - Takuma (2) - Maria (3) - Ayumi (4) - Mitsuhiko (5) - Conan (6). Those last numbers order were assosciated with the dice numbers and the assigned numbers.

The students then counted the syllables in their names, and picked the one corresponding to the assigned numbers, before aligning them in the previous order. The solution of the code was "Ongakushitsu" (music room).

Aftermath

After solved riddle that Kobayashi give to the class as activities, then Detective Boys have idea for next activities to investigate Mysterious Western Style house next to Agasa's House. They speculate Eto family house which perharps Ayumi found on a preview case was haunted house. The house actually is Kudo residence.

Trivia

• In this episode, Conan doesn't explain the code resolution, only the culprit's motive.
• Takuma Sakamoto was hurt shortly after school began, and was only able to return to class in October.
• In this case, Haibara stated that in their last health check, she and Ayumi were about the same weight and height.

Remastered version

A remastered version of this case was aired on March 26, 2011, due to production delay for episode 610 caused by 2011 Tōhoku earthquake.
