The Case
Sonoko invites Ran to come to a house in the hills where their chocolates are blissed with good fortune for love. Conan and Kogoro attend too. Once there, they meet two men who are out hunting for a Japanese wolf, an old lady who owns the place her two female assistants and a male photographer. The females there start making chocolate as gifts for the one they love. Sonoko makes hers for Makoto and Ran leaves hers nameless. A snowstorm occurs and the photographer is found dead by Conan and the dog named Saburo.

The Deduction
The mystery continues and they develop the film on the camera to find droplets of blood on it. Apparently, the murder takes place before the snowstorm but Conan feels like there's a trick to it. The characters are given more back story.
The Resolution
While examining the chocolates, Conan figures out who the murderer is. Kogoro pops in finding Conan snooping around and is put to sleep. Conan tells everyone in the house Kogoro is ready to place his deduction.

Manga to anime changes
The following was added to the anime version:
- Mika's recollection of Saburo digging Chiyoko's husband out is accompanied by a still image of the event.
- After Yuzo and Hajime recommends that everyone returns to the lodge or stay outside freezing, Conan is contemplating the details found at the crime scene due to episode 266 ending at that point.
- A flashback is shown when Mika mentioned Yoshitaka cutting himself while chopping chocolate.
- Conan's realization of who the murderer at the end of episode 267 is accompanied with a picture of The Criminal.
Continuity
- This case brought up that Sonoko failed knitting a sweater for Makoto Kyogoku, which she gave up on in The Murderous Pottery Class.
Trivia
- The case of "Bloody Valentine's" was the day when Al Capone shot down seven people with machine guns as they stood in front of a garage on February 14, 1929.
- The suspects' names are related to chocolates and chocolate-making:
- Chiyoko Yuasa (湯浅 千代子) is related to chocolate (the katakana for Chiyoko is チヨコ and the katakana for the "choco" in chocolate is チョコ) and the heating and foaming of the chocolate (Yuasa 湯浅 is similar to Yusen 湯煎, which means boiling with water);
- Yoshitaka Nigaki (二垣 佳貴) is related to bitter (bitter, or niga 苦 in Japanese is phonetically similar to the niga in Nigaki), like the bitter cocoa before it becomes chocolate, and chocolate cakes (the characters for Yoshitaka 佳貴 can also be read "keiki", like the Japanese word for cake, which is kēki);
- Mika Konakawa (粉川 実果) is related to icing sugar (粉砂糖) and fruits (果実);
- Ako Amari (甘利 亜子) is related to sweetness (甘);
- Yuzo Sakami (酒見 祐三) is related to liquor-filled chocolates (酒 stands for alcohol);
