Magic Kaito

Magic Kaito (まじっく快斗 ,MAJIKKU Kaito) is a shōnen manga series by Gosho Aoyama, about a thief named Kaitou Kid. Aoyama stopped work on the manga after three volumes due to the fact that he started Detective Conan, which was an instant hit. Chapters of the Magic Kaito manga have been released in Shōnen Sunday since then, and have only recently been collected into a fourth volume in February 2007.

Plot

Kaito Kuroba, a normal teenage high school student, stumbles across the secret of his father's death: his father was not only a magician, but the famous phantom thief Kaitou Kid, and was killed by an organization for reasons unknown. Taking up his father's mantle in an attempt to bait the killers, Kaito performs a number of thefts and eventually learns that his father died for interfering in the organization's quest to find the Pandora Gem. Pandora is said to glow in the light of the moon, and beneath the moon and a certain comet, will shed a tear granting immortality to whomever drinks it. Kaito then decides to search for Pandora as Kaitou Kid and destroy it, in order to prevent the organization from obtaining their goals.

The mysterious thief Kaitou Kid has reappeared after an eight year hiatus stealing jewels. Meanwhile, high school student Kaito Kuroba discovers a secret room in his house behind a portrait of his father along with Kaitou Kid's outfit. What does this mean? Kaito Kuroba/Kaitou Kid, Aoko Nakamori, Ginzo Nakamori, Toichi Kuroba, Chikage Kuroba, and Konosuke Jii are introduced. Aoko blushes when she thinks Kaito is leaning very close towards her. Kaito and Aoko share good chemistry while walking home from school during the sunset. We see young Kaito and Aoko watching Toichi Kuroba's magic show. Kaito remembers something from this time that his father told him about using a Poker Face which aids him in his confrontation with Jii. He sees a picture of his dad and slips through. He sees kid costumes and dresses up.

While stealing the Angel Crown, Inspector Nakamori catches a glimpse of Kaito's face while in his disguise as Kaitou Kid. Determined to prove to her father Kaito isn't Kid, Aoko convinces Kaito to go on a date with her to Tropical Land at the same time Kid's next heist is to take place. If Kaito is caught by Aoko leaving from Tropical Land or if Kid never shows up for the heist, Kaito's identity will be exposed! Can Kaito manage to go on the date with Aoko and complete the Kid heist at the same time? To convince Inspector Nakamori that Kaito isn't Kid Aoko convinces Kaito to take her on a date to Tropical Land.
