Character Names in Episode Titles
Alright, bringing this up because this is inconsistent in our titles overall. Are we using Western order name style (given, family) in episode titles or Japanese order name style (family, given)? --skyechan
- I would normally go with the Western style here to keep things standard with the rest of the wiki but maybe if you gave a concrete example, I could have a better idea. --Maurice 01:10, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Western ordered:
- Japanese ordered:
- Edogawa Conan Kidnapping Case
- Mouri Kogoro's Imposter
- Hattori Heiji's Desperate Situation!
- The Target is Mouri Kogoro
- Three Days with Hattori Heiji
- Hattori Heiji vs. Kudo Shinichi: Deduction Battle on the Ski Slope
- Murderer, Kudou Shinichi <---also note the spelling of Kudo here.
- The Day Mouri Kogoro Ceased Being a Detective
- --skyechan
- Ok, yup. I think we should use the Western order style for many reasons. The main one is that from the start we had to choose between either using the full Japanese style or Western style but not a mix of both. Since we've been converting everything to Western style so far (e.g. translations, names, etc...), it would be best to keep the standard going (question of best practice). Another reason would be our audience, which is used to the Western-style transliterations of Japanese media. --Maurice 22:41, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
- Taken care of moving the titles. Going through wiki to correct wrong links. --skyechan

269-270
Do 269-270 show up as a redlink for everyone else? I created this article, and it shows up as a redlink on my browser, even after my cache is cleared. It even shows up that way on Internet Explorer, which I NEVER use. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem... CarpetCrawlermessage me 07:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Seasons
How should we set up the seasons? It's obvious that season 18 is getting way too big, and I don't know if the show even HAS official seasons, anyway. What do you guys suggest we do?
- Make the seasons go year by year? For example, 1996 is season 1, 1997 is season 2, etc...
- Go by certain important episodes? For example, user kkslider5552000 of the forums at DCTP has an interesting method that he goes by, in which certain important episodes mark the beginning or end of seasons.
- The 13 or 26 episode format that a season in television normally has? This would give 44 seasons under a 13 episode format, and 22 seasons under the 26 episode format. Source.
- A different method?
Either way, the current way it's set up with season 18 is getting ridiculous and completely unmanageable. I think something needs to be done. It may be a long project, considering the lengthy amount of work it took to get the current seasons done, but it would definitely be a good project. What does everyone think? CarpetCrawlermessage me 06:18, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
- My vote is to begin each season with the first episode of the new year. That said, the resulting seasons would be:
- 1 - Episodes 1-42
- 2 - Episodes 43-85
- 3 - Episodes 86-128
- 4 - Episodes 129-173
- 5 - Episodes 174-218
- 6 - Episodes 219-262
- 7 - Episodes 263-303
- 8 - Episodes 304-344
- 9 - Episodes 345-383
- 10 - Episodes 384-424
- 11 - Episodes 425-459
- 12 - Episodes 460-490
- 13 - Episodes 491-520
- 14 - Episodes 521-561
- 15 - Episodes 562-599 (exception for this one because otherwise it would split up a two-parter)
- 16 - Episodes 600-current
--Skyechan 06:28, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- Anyone object to such a change? I'm thinking that's probably our best decision in the end. CarpetCrawlermessage me 13:42, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- There is another option that is doable. We could go by the approximate episodes listed via the Japanese DVD releases as seen on the Japanese DVD page.
- Part 1 - Episodes 1-28
- Part 2 - Episodes 29-54
- Part 3 - Episodes 55-82
- Part 4 - Episodes 83-106
- Part 5 - Episodes 107-134
- Part 6 - Episodes 135-162
- Part 7 - Episodes 163-193
- Part 8 - Episodes 194-216
- Part 9 - Episodes 217-254
- Part 10 - Episodes 255-285
- Part 11 - Episodes 286-315
- Part 12 - Episodes 316-353
- Part 13 - Episodes 354-389
- Part 14 - Episodes 390-426
- Part 15 - Episodes 427-465
- Part 16 - Episodes 466-490
- Part 17 - Episodes 491-527
- Part 18 - Episodes 528-565
- Part 19 - Episodes 566-current
Could everyone please vote for which method they prefer? :) I'd like to get some sort of consistency going and then we can list the method on the Manual of Style page. --Skyechan 23:23, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

When did Detective Conan's anime drawer change?
When did Detective Conan's anime drawer change? I started watching it up to season and its the old drawings but then I checked season 18 and all the characters got new looks and it was a newer anime look instead. When did they do this?
And who draws the animes, is it the creator Gosho Aoyama?
- The look of each episode mainly comes from the Animation Director of the episode. Aoyama as far as I understand only draws a few keyframes for each movie, but I'm not certain about the episodes. Also, during DC's many year run it went from traditional cel animation (animators paint each frame of the anime by hand) to all digitized (animators draw on tablets and colour using computers) sometime around...oh, the 300s I think, which would explain the different look you're talking about.--Skyechan 22:24, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Legend moved to main page.
Having to navigate to and away from the legend page is unnecessary. Someone should please condense the two. --71.59.190.110 15:20, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hello. You could open a new tab in your browser with the legend page. Also, there aren't that many icons to go through so it shouldn't take too much time to grasp their meanings. The thing is that those icons are used on many many different pages (anime, all the seasons, volumes, magic kaito articles, drama, etc...). It would really encumber the articles with repetitive information you can learn about one first time, if we were to replicate them everywhere. That's also why we made access to the legend as simple as possible by either clicking on the "Plot" column header or the icon itself. I hope that answers your concerns. And thanks for bringing it up. If we do come up with a better way of presenting the information in the future, we'll be sure to implement it! --Maurice talk 17:19, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Change Jap# to JPN#
For the episode guide, and maybe the manga one too, the word JAP is used. That is a derogatory word, AKA Racist. You should change it to JPN. 98.119.116.43 01:14, 3 April 2013 (PDT)
Add in a Hattori icon
I find it interesting that KID gets his own icon but Hattori doesn't. Would it be possible to list the episodes he appear in too? --108.201.185.4 21:42, 20 October 2013 (PDT)
Okay ignore this, I just realized it was referring to the Magic Kaito manga. Back to searching by appearance for me. --108.201.185.4 21:47, 20 October 2013 (PDT)
Season 23?
They had a news years announcement at the beginning of 724. Is that an adequate marker showing the division between seasons, or is there another sign we should be looking for? Chekhov MacGuffin talk 19:24, 13 January 2014 (EST)
- Judging from my estimate of what episodes will probably be sorted on to DVD numbers (our current method of determining seasons) that's roughly where the split will occur, so I say go for it. We can always adjust episodes on to their correct seasons later if it's discovered the split is earlier/later. --Skyechan (talk) 06:51, 14 January 2014 (EST)
Remastered episodes
Should we include remastered episodes in this listing ? I'm tempted to say yes, since it often contains new footage (for example, the remastered version of Reunion with the Black Organization begins with Haibara talking about the APTX and recalling this case while talking to the viewer) and would allow to fill the gaps in the airdates. I'm quite interested in seeing this kind of new scenes and it seems there's not a lot of information about it here (the only list is the Category:Remastered_episode). Why not put them here, with the "normal" episodes ? To me it is not redundant information.
From what I saw, we would have to edit the individual Season pages, which are included on this page (of course I wouldn't mind doing it). I was thinking of something like this (end of Season 16 for the example) :
Jpn# | Int# | Episode title | Original broadcast | English dub broadcast | Plot | Manga source | Next Conan's Hint |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
488 | - | The Devil of the TV Station (1 Hour Special) | October 22, 2007 | V57 - F5~7 | Jacket | ||
488.5 | - | Tottori Spider Mansion Demon (1 Hour Special) | October 29, 2007 | V25 - F4~8 | ??? | ||
489 | - | Courtroom Confrontation III: Prosecutor as Eyewitness (1 Hour Special) | November 26, 2007 | TV Original | Ski lift | ||
490 | - | Heiji Hattori vs. Shinichi Kudo: Deduction Battle on the Ski Slope (1 Hour Special) | December 3, 2007 | V50 - F8 ~ V51 - F1 | Wrong phone number | ||
490.5 | - | Contact with the Black Organization (1 Hour Special) | December 17, 2007 | V37 - F8 ~ V38 - F1 | ??? |
I have seen this ".5" convention once to refer to these remastered episodes and it looks pretty straightforward. The episode title would just link to the page of the original episode (more precisely to the "Remastered version" section of the episode since there's almost always one). I was also thinking that, if the numbering doesn't stand out enough, we could color the rows in a different way (orange or something), or is it unnecessary ?
If you guys like this idea, does anyone know where I could find some kind of official list, or at least a reliable list, of all the remastered episodes ? While doing my research I came across a few episodes that were not indicated as remastered, such as the Class 1-B's Great Operation! which has apparently been remastered between episodes 609 and 610. Edit while writing : I just came across this website that seems official and that does contain remastered episodes, including the one I just talked about. Can someone confirm that ?
Thanks for taking the time to read, I'm waiting for your answers !

- I think this is a fairly important issue many people should weigh in on so I started a forum post here. Make sure to vote. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 00:38, 28 April 2015 (CEST)
- Since the poll only got "yes" answers, I think I can start working on this ! (Not immediately, but I'll try to find time before next week) Thanks for everything !
- Hi ! You can see here and here my changes. I think the color is good. As for the detailed summaries, I only copied and pasted the summaries of the original episodes (except for the "BO Plot" part of 309-311 where I added a few details). I'm going to show my changes on the forum too. If anyone has any remark or question, let me know ! Maxdefolsch (talk) 08:05, 3 May 2015 (CEST)
- I like the formatting. I would make the orange header color a little bit lighter. It's pretty dark and eye catching at the moment. I think #efead7 looks pretty good. It's greyer and a bit lighter. I figured that would be a good scheme because it visually signifies remasters are filler. The current setting is the original orange shade at the moment. Next Conan's hint
Now that we have the remastered episodes in place, I think it would be wise to move the next Conan's hints onto episodes they are for, instead of when they were aired. I just think it makes more sense to the hint to be in the same row as the episode it is referring to. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 23:25, 6 May 2015 (CEST)
- Whoa, whoa, whoa. So are we going to be doing this on the episode pages too? That seems like an awful lot of unnecessary work! And where was the voting for this change?? I think the way it was was fine!--Skyechan (talk) 21:10, 9 May 2015 (CEST)
- It's true that I got a bit carried away here and should have waited for opinions, but I agree with Chek about the fact that it makes more sense that way. In your edits you mentioned a mistake I made about an hint that was meant for a remastered episode, but this mistake was possible only because everyone voluntarily skipped and ignored remastered episodes until now. Because of that, a lot of "Next Conan's Hint" were not actually shown in the episode they were written in (since they were shown in the remastered episodes that were skipped), and were moved to the previous episode. What I mean is, if we had for example EP1 with Hint1, REM1 with Hint2, and EP2 with Hint3, before the change it would have been written as EP1 with Hint2, EP2 with Hint3. It makes no sense at all. Besides, if your main concern if the amount of work to make the change in all the Episode pages, be assured that I'm willing to do it myself. By the way, thank you very much for filling the blanks I left, as I couldn't find all the hints around remastered episodes. Sorry about the trouble I caused, I was just trying to help ! Maxdefolsch (talk) 03:39, 10 May 2015 (CEST)
- Indeed. I'm on it ! Maxdefolsch (talk) 02:50, 7 May 2015 (CEST)
- Done ! But there are a few hints missing around the remastered episodes because people were skipping them (since they weren't listed). I asked someone who has all the remasters to help me fill the blanks. Just to be sure, should I also change the Next Conan's Hint in the infobox of every episode page ? Maxdefolsch (talk) 11:55, 7 May 2015 (CEST)
A user kindly gave me some info about missing stuff
The user informed me about some missing remastered episodes which I am in the process of adding. The user also made the following request:
"Also, can you consider merging TV Specials into Anime list as well? I noticed some weeks went missing because of TV Specials. (I am using it as a TV guide here :D)"
Thoughts?
Chekhov MacGuffin talk 16:17, 18 May 2015 (CEST)
- Actually, I knew about these episodes, but according to StartoldRyuu some of them are marked as remastered even though they are just re-runs and don't actually contain any remastered scenes, so I wasn't sure if I should include them or not. I see that you are missing some ; here is the list I have :
- 336.5 - 011 - Moonlight Sonata Case
- --> Just a re-run with a few words from Aoyama at the beginning
- 365.5 - 052 - The Mist Goblin Legend Murder Case
- 367.5 - 118 - The Naniwa Serial Murder Case
- 373.5 - 184 - A Cursed Mask Coldly Laughs
- 373.6 - 304 - The Trembling Police Headquarters: 12 Million Hostages
- --> Not remastered, but contain a new scene at the beginning
- 414.5 - 162 - The Locked Room in the Sky: Shinichi Kudo's First Case
- 436.5 - 076 - Conan vs. Kaitou Kid
- 442.5 - 208 - The Entrance to the Maze: The Anger of the Colossus
- 447.5 - 342 - The Bride of Huis ten Bosch
- --> Not remastered, only have a "10th anniversary" logo at the beginning
- If you're OK with including these "fake remasters", I'm fine with that and I'll be adding them.
- About the TV Specials in the Anime list, I'm also fine with that. Not only the "normal" TV Specials but also the Magic Kaito Specials since it would fill the gaps. Again, if it's OK with you I'll add them.
- Maxdefolsch (talk) 17:47, 18 May 2015 (CEST)
- I think everything you said a great idea. If they aren't true remasters maybe we can just call them "reruns" instead. Chekhov MacGuffin talk 19:20, 18 May 2015 (CEST)
