Masayoshi Sakaguchi trained the dog John to kill Takeshi.  Masayoshi's son Masato committed suicide due to bullying from Takeshi years prior.  Takeshi showed regret from his actions during the funeral and moved away shortly.  Years later, Takeshi moved back to the town and Masayoshi saw that he is still a bully, prompting Masayoshi to train John to kill Takeshi.
