Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are having dinner at Restaurant Danny's Dinning, when they witness the waiter Ryuta Someya punch his co-worker Yasuo Nashimoto in the face. Then Kogoro calls the police, while Ryuta flees from the restaurant. Few days later, Ryuta is arrested and being sent to Tokyo. Trivia
- The film Running in Handcuffs, of which Takagi is such a huge fanatic, is a fictional titular variation of the 1958 film The Defiant Ones, starring Sidney Poitier and Tony Curtis, which sports a similar plot of two men bonding with each other while chained together.
- This case is clearly modeled after episode 30 of the anime Lupin III Part II, a source of inspiration for Detective Conan, where Lupin III and Inspector Zenigata must flee a group of war fanatics chain-linked to each other by their necks.
- The names of other waiters at Restaurant Danny's Dinning are on the plates of the lockers in the men locker room: Nishida (西田), Kuroda (黒田), Tanaka (田中), Nakamura (中村), Yamamoto (山本), and Toudou (藤堂).
- Satoru Kishida's police car is a 2004 Toyota Crown [S180]. The license plate number is 新宿 800, は 89-74 (Shinjuku 800, Ha 89-74).
- The truck in which Takagi and Someya snuck in is a white Toyota Dyna 200 Cube 2014. The license plate number is 新宿, い 110 (Shinjuku l, 10-15).
