In a deserted street of Tokyo, Ginzo Nakamori and his men follow "Kid" on his balloon, which they have not noticed yet is a dummy. They notice that the balloon starts descending and Ginzo thinks it must be Kid preparing to land, even though one of his men says it is probably the balloon deflating, which the inspector brushes away as false. However, "Kid" does not stop when a van appears, and is shredded into pieces when his balloon collides with it, as a confused Ginzo watches from afar. One of "Kid"'s legs lands near the inspector and he picks it up, realizing it was a dummy. As he wonders who the real Kid could be, the riot policemen grab him from behind and a grinning superintendent Chaki greets him, saying that "he" inspector Nakamori is Kid. As Ginzo tries to explain himself, Chaki pulls off his mustache, which is revealed to be a fake. Tsunakura arrives and says that must be Kid and he asks inspector Nakamori to give him back his jewel. While Ginzo still tries to wriggle himself off the officers, Chaki receives a call from Saguru still at the museum, asking him if their plan worked, and Chaki confirms it. A bit after the call, as Saguru is carrying a ladder towards the statue, Aoko arrives and asks him why he is still here. Saguru replies that he needs to remove the head to bring it to his forensic lab to find out how Kid was able to remove it and says he will use his blowtorch to melt the bronze. Aoko then tells him that Akako still has not chosen her partner at next week's dance party and Saguru tells her not to worry since she has many partners. Realizing "Saguru"'s true identity, Aoko locks the door and says she will keep Kid from escaping. She continues, by saying that the real Saguru Hakuba loves Akako and would definitely have replied something along the lines of "I'll volunteer if you don't have a partner yet". Kid tries to brush it off, saying that they just caught inspector Nakamori with a fake mustache, but Midoriko Nakamori arrives from behind the pillar and explains that that inspector Nakamori is the real one, since he just had a fake mustache. Early in the morning, she saw him leave with a mask on even though he did not have a cold, and her doubts were confirmed when Ginzo dropped the receipt from the handicrafts store, as these stores also sell fake mustaches among others. She also saw in their bathroom that Ginzo had a new razor, and thought it was most likely Kid who disguised as a store employee and sold the defective razor to her husband.

Kid admits his defeat and takes off his disguise and acquiesces that having Ginzo Nakamori wear a fake mustache was convenient for him and congratulates Midoriko for finding him out, while thinking in his head that he snuck in the razor when he visited Aoko's house the day before as Kaito Kuroba before swapping it back for the real one this morning. Midoriko is surprised that he knew him, and notices that he is unusually young. She was also preparing to ask him about something weird on his mouth, but Kid interrupts her and asks her if she knew why he came there, since the jewel has already been stolen. Midoriko is not impressed by that, saying that the jewel is still there, and that when he placed the box above the head, he put two mirrors diagonally and the inside of the box would be reflected on the mirrors, giving the box an appearance of emptiness. He then detonated the bombs and scattered fake fragments, then opened the box, which would appear empty. As evidence, the central detonator is still there, as if it would not, there would be a gap between the two mirrors. Kid says that she is right, and he pulls open the two mirrors, revealing a pristine head. He asks her if she knows where the real Saguru is. She says probably, knowing that a few days before, Saguru had told his butler that she could have a must-deserved break.

At the same time, in the Rockies, while Kashiko Shikibe is enjoying her ski trip, Saguru comes skiing frantically towards her and asks her if she is alright, but she herself wondered why he was there. Saguru said he received a message from her saying that she had been kidnapped by criminals, but she says she sent no messages. She had in fact lost her phone and after a nice man (Konosuke Jii in disguise) returned it to her, it started acting up. Saguru now understands that it was probably one of Kid's henchmen which gave her a fake phone. In fact, Saguru was also played, since he received a call from inspector Nakamori right after seeing his butler's fake message and realizes that inspector Nakamori's voice back then was probably also Kid. Both decide to enjoy their time in Canada.

Back at the museum, Aoko says that Kid is cruel for sending Saguru off like that, but Kid said he did not want to face off two enemies at once. He also says he was surprised only the two of them came to catch him, but they that he is wrong, as a groupe of pro wrestlers arrive from behind the other pillars. Midoriko orders the men to grab him and says he will not be able to blend in with them without equipment. A Kid struggling with the wrestlers on the statue then throws his backpack in the air and shoots it with his card gun, revealed many small gift boxes. Kid says that inspector Nakamori did not go to the handicrafts store just to get a fake mustache, but also a special something for his wife. Midoriko then promptly orders the wrestlers to stop because she does not want the gift to be stepped on. She shuffles through the boxes and finds a handkerchief with her name embroidered on it. However, she is too late and Kid manages to escape through the skylight. Kid had originally planened to use these fake gifts to stall inspector Nakamori, but he still found good use for them. While Aoko receives a call from the real Saguru, Midoriko realizes that only the real box from the handicrafts store has a fish logo on it, and thinks to herself that Kid must dislike fish. Aoko then goes to her mother and brings her the phone, since Saguru was asking how she knew Kid was not the real Saguru. She noticed the real Saguru held his teacup with two fingers in the handle, while Kid only had one in the loop and was pressing his thumb on the top of the handle. Also, from a stain next to the teacup, she realized Saguru was a fake, since the real Saguru would not put a spoon on the table, but on the saucer. Saguru is impressed by her explanation, since he also in fact used to hold the teacup with one finger, but changed it after [[Furuyo Senma]] pointed it out to him. Aoko asks her mother if they should try to catch Kid again next time, but she declines, thinking that this is pretty fun and she should let Ginzo play this a bit longer.

A few days later, at the Nakamori residence, while her mother is preparing the bentos, Aoko brings her Kaito and her used bentos to be washed. Midoriko sees that Kaito did not use the soy sauce. Since the container is in the shape of fish, she wonders if Kaito does not also hate fish, oblivious that both are the same person.
