Shigeki Awai (粟井 重紀 ,Awai Shigeki) is a Japanese animator. He takes part in the production of Detective Conan anime and movies.

Biography

Shigeki Awai has worked for the Detective Conan anime since 2009, starting with Episode 573: The Whereabouts of the Embarrassing Charm (Part 1); he frequently worked under the episodes done by Azeta Pictures. He also began to serve as animation director in 2013, starting with Episode 685: Froth, Steam, and Smoke (Part 2); until Episode 777: Detective Boys vs. Elderly Detective League in 2015, when he stepped down from it.

In 2016, after finishing the key animation work for Episode 830: A Cottage Surrounded by Zombies (Part 1), Awai quit the production team. In 2024, he appeared in the key animation group of Episode 1139: The Sister Troubled By Her Naughty Brother.

On March 14, 2025, a friend of Awai disclosed that they had attended Shigeki Awai's wake, who had passed away at the age of 71.
