Story
In London, the famous detective, Saguru Hakuba has solved another case. His signature question is "How come you did that?"
On the news, Ginzo Nakamori is reading about him. The policeman is curious about Hakuba arresting Kid but Nakamori does not allow it because the one who will arrest Kid is him only. The challenge letter from Kaitou Kid has arrived and he's going to steal the painting called the Adam's Smile.
At the skating rank, Kaito is using the binoculars to look at the museum where the policemen are moving the Adam's Smile inside the museum. Kaito is getting excited. When Aoko and Kaito are skating however Kaito can't skate. Aoko teases him that he can't skate.
That night at the museum, Nakamori and the police are still on their guard to protect the Adam's Smile. Suddenly, the famous detective Saguru Hakuba appeared. Nakamori tells Hakuba to go away because he thinks the mission is not for kids. Until sudden the police superintendent general appeared and tells Nakamori that it's his son. Nakamori then understands and will take care of Saguru Hakuba. The police superintendent general thanked Nakamori. Nakamori tells Hakuba to feel free to ask any questions and Hakuba suddenly asked that Kid is male or female. Nakamori thinks it's male. Hakuba asked all the random questions about Kid until Nakamori doesn't know.
Meanwhile in the police car, the policeman thinks it's boring working until all of sudden, Kid just knocked him out cold and took his police uniform to be his replacement. In the museum, they are lot of policemen on duty.
When Hakuba goes outside, he found the police notebook on the ground and found the knocked out policeman inside the car. He now knows what's going on.
In the museum, the smoke appeared and the Adam's Smile goes missing with the note saying that Kid has stolen the painting. Nakamori and his men went out of the gallery and went to look for Kid. One policeman as Kaitou Kid is staying in the gallery. He took the note out of the frame and the Adam's Smile is still there. Hakuba appears and meets Kaitou Kid. Hakuba announces his deduction that the trick is simple. People always panic when things disappear so fast. So they always forget it is not possible. No one plays the inferior trick anymore. Hakuba thinks Kid's trick is nothing. Kid is about to escape by going out through the window but the rope's been cut and the balloon was released by Hakuba earlier. Hakuba asked Kid why does he have to be a thief and for what purpose. Kid smiles and tells Hakuba that it's his job to find out. Kid uses the hang glider to fly but failed. Kid falls to the crowd of policemen and runs away from them. Kid went to the skating rank and he can't skate. Kid uses the decoy and throws away. Nakamori sees the decoy skating well and the real Kid not skating well and slipped. Nakamori tells his men to chase the decoy because he thinks Kid should not skate badly. Kid finally escapes from the police and Nakamori found out it's just the rubber doll when he catches the decoy. Hakuba made a note in his notebook that Kid can't skate.
At Ekoda High School, Kaito is happy that Hakuba didn't catch Kid. Suddenly, Hakuba is now a new student.
