Mitsuhiko brings a wideband receiver to school and the Detective Boys pick up a terrifying phone call by a kidnapper. Using the sounds heard in the background and the conversation as clues, Conan is able to narrow the location of the kidnapper to an area around a railroad, a high school, and a construction site. The kidnapper demands the victim's father to commit suicide and the victim yells out the final clue indicating that she's near a tire factory. Conan is able to apprehend the kidnapper just in time. Agasa invents the Electronic Notebook Map.
87	90	The Crane's Return of a Favor Murder Case	January 19, 1998			TV Original	Bird's nest
Conan, Ran, and Kogoro take a trip to Hokkaido to see the red-crowned cranes. They run into an old man who takes care of the cranes and he invites them to his house. At the house, the old man's daughter and son rush into the room demanding the reason why the old man is donating his life savings to the city. The group is allowed to soak in the hot spring near the house, but they are called to the house when they find out the old man has been murdered. The old man's son confesses that he's the murderer, but Conan proves that he's not. Using Kogoro, Conan announces the old man's brother to be the killer who set up a spring loaded crossbow and fired it at the same time as the son.

Kogoro is called by a famous horror novelist named Daisuke Torakura, whose nickname is Mr. Dracula because most of his novels contain vampires. At Torakura's villa, Kogoro meets Torakura's student and wife, a magazine editor, a researcher studying the legend of vampires, and Torakura himself dressed as a vampire. Torakura asks Kogoro to investigate his wife because he believe she is having an affair and offers Kogoro to stay the night because of a snowstorm. While Torakura stays in his study to finish writing, Conan and Ran tour the mansion. At midnight, everyone checks on Torakura only to find him tied to a wooden cross with a stake driven through his heart. The death is murder, but the study's door was locked and there is no footprints in the snow leading to and away from the study outside.

Kogoro reviews the events that took place before the murder of Torakura and discovers everyone in the villa has a motive to kill because Torakura has been lying and blackmailing them. Conan finds a ladder in a closet and cellophane tape stuck to the curtain rack to discover the trick used in the lock room murder. Conan stuns Kogoro to reveal that by using the film projector and cellophane tape stuck to the door lock, anyone can be the murder. But points out the murderer is Torakura's student, Tadokoro, because of a bad lie he told before the body was found.

Kogoro is invited to Rika Okano's ikebana award ceremony to investigate a threat letter announcing a murder. Rika brushes the letter off as jealous hate mail, but the threat soon comes true when the owner of the hotel where the award ceremony is taking place is strangled to death. Conan notices something strange about the flower the owner was wearing and figures out the trick after he finds chloroform in Rika's dressing room. He also finds cyanide and worries that another murder will take place. Conan hurries to the stage where Rika is performing and sprays all the flowers with liquid nitrogen. With Kogoro stunned, Conan reveals Rika's assistant to be the culprit who also made a suicidal attempt to take Rika's life as well.

Kogoro breaks his leg and is admitted to the hospital. Conan and the Detective Boys visit him after school where they meet Yoshio and Kogoro's hospital roommates. In the room's conversation, it is revealed that Yoshio was working at the bank at the time of a 100 million yen heist and the criminals is still at large. Conan confronts Yoshio and tells him he knows the bank criminals are forcing him to kill their apprehended partner and his daughter is held hostage. Conan grabs the gun which Yoshio is holding and knocks out the criminals with his soccer ball. The Detective Boys rush in to save Yoshio's daughter who is held on top of a building across from the hospital.

A real estate company president named Bunzo Ushio mistaken an ulcer for cancer and paid an assassin nicknamed Fox to assassinate him. Now that he realized his mistake, he asks Kogoro to find Fox because he lost contact and is unable to stop the assassination. Bunz? explains the agreement includes that Fox will only target him while he's traversing, so Kogoro, Ran, and Conan head to Tanbara mountain to traverse with Bunz?. Along the way up, the guide is murdered and Kogoro is attacked during the night when the group stays in a cabin on top of the mountain. One person is missing at night, but only because he's claustrophobic. When Kogoro and Conan head back to the cabin, they hear Ran's shriek.

Kogoro and Conan rush back to the mountain cabin because of Ran's shriek to find a woman stabbed in the back. They deduce that the killer is the woman's partner and discover him gone along with the cabin's caretaker. Kogoro saves the killer from a landslide and ties him up, but the assassin nicknamed Fox is still out there. Conan concludes Fox was disguised as the now missing caretaker. Conan rushes into the forest after a gunshot is heard and saves Fox from Bunzo who wanted revenge after one of Fox's assassination jobs led to the death of his daughter.

Conan, Ran and her father went to a snow trip with a client who told Ran's father that someone was about to kill him. Can Conan help Ran's father solve the case?

After drinking with a friend, Kogoro heads home on the train at 7:30. He falls asleep, but wakes up just in time to get off at the right stop. Kogoro meets with a friend named Sachiko while walking home who offers to take him on a date to Toto Bay Bridge. They return two hours later to find Sachiko's roommate murdered. Conan suspects Sachiko and suggests that Kogoro missed his stop on the train and got off at 8:30 instead breaking Sachiko's alibi. But the decisive evidence is a pen which Kogoro picked up in Sachiko's car that has a fingerprints of a mail courier who dropped off a package at 8:00.

When Kogoro is hired to investigate the murder of a great magician while Ran is suspicious of Conan when she finds out he looks exactly like Shinichi. When arriving to investigate, Conan reveals who the Culprit and reveals that the magician knew he was going to be murdered. Afterwards, Ran takes Conan to his house and confronts him on his identity as Shinichi. Shinichi's mother comes in time and manages to trick Ran into thinking Conan is a distant relative, and that he is trained by Shinichi. Conan is later bought by his mother to her friend's house to investigate a possibility that their relative is an imposter. Conan was about to solve the case but his father corrects him on his mistake, rekindling with his wife, and sends Conan back to the Mouri custody. Misao Yamamura's first appearance. Ran gets suspicious of Conan's true identity again.

Kogoro is invited to the house of Kotaro Ichikawa of Ichikawa Industries to investigate his two daughters, Kazue and Mizue, for inheritance purposes. After going to the washroom, Conan catches Kazue injecting poison into a bottle of wine, but he is captured and locked in the wine cellar by an unknown attacker. He escapes to find out Kotaro died after drinking wine and Kazue is taken away by the police. Conan discovers Kotaro never drank the wine and the doctor was the true killer after viewing a recording of the murder caught on camera.

Asami wishes to invite Shinichi to her birthday party with her mystery club but she obviously can't contact him so she invites Ran, Sonoko, Conan, and Kogoro instead. When Ran asks Asami about her relationship with Shinichi, Asami replies "first love". Midway through the party, Asami falls asleep, so the rest of the group leave to a karaoke box. They notice the house on fire from the bar's window several hours later and rush back. Ran bursts through the burning building to save Asami just in time.

Conan notices the furniture was moved and overhears the firefighters wondering why the birthday cake was put on a chair under the fax machine. With the new evidence, Conan can safely say it was arson instead of a suicide which Kogoro was thinking. Conan finds out who the culprit after he interviews the owner of the convenience store next door to the karaoke box. Kogoro, though knocked out, tells everyone the president of the mystery club set the fire with the fax machine because he wanted to heroically save Asami so she would fall in love with him. It is revealed that Asami only confessed to Shinichi, to which he replied he's in love with "someone weird", a.k.a. Ran.

When a famous samurai movie star, Kozaburo Hijikata, hires Kogoro the group is led to believe he wants to learn about detective work for an upcoming TV series where he is to star as a detective, but rumors of an affair between his wife Isami Nagakura and stunt actor Hajime Okita can't help but lead Conan to doubt the reason. When Isami is found dead on Okita's balcony, the group believes it is an open and shut case, but Conan doubts the authenticity when he sees a big smile form on Hijikata's face. Which side is truly right?

Conan returns to Kozaburo's apartment to find concrete proof to prove Hajime's innocence. While Kogoro attracts the newspaper press so Inspector Megure can take Hajime to the police station, Conan knocks Kogoro out to announce Kozaburo is the real killer. Conan reveals Kozaburo tricked everyone by taking them to the 6th floor while everyone believed they were on the 5th by creating a duplicate room on both floors. As proof, Conan asks Takagi to find the model gun under the sofa that Kogoro secretly broke in the room on the 6th floor.

Kogoro receives a letter asking him to solve the mystery of a mansion. There, Kogoro, Conan, and Ran meet Misao Nakamura and his brother. The entire mansion is filled with clocks since the previous owner, the brother's grandfather, was a clockwork artisan. Conan notices the strange mysteries - every digital clock is scratched between the two minute digits, drilled holes are everywhere, a mirror is glued to a desk, every clock rings for one minute at 11:00, and there's someone hiding in the attic. At 1:10, three goblins figures appear from the cuckoo clock in the office.
105	111	The Mysterious Mansion of a Band of Thieves Case (Part 2)	June 15, 1998			V17 - F7~9 (167-169)	Door
Conan figures out the mysteries of the mansion, but waits until dark to pass on clues to the struggling Kogoro. The first clue he gives is a pun that reveals 1100 means a lion. The second clue Conan gives reveals the "N", "L, and "R" letters on the goblin figure's head stand for "night", "light", and "right". By shining a light through the lion head on the front door, the light reflects through the holes throughout the mansion and onto the cuckoo clock where a cuckoo bird emerges carrying a golden watch. The two brothers show their true identity as members of a band of thieves called the Goblins, but they are taken down by Kogoro and Ran and the real Misao is released from the attic.

A newspaper reporter is attacked over the phone and Conan rushes to the apartment to find the apartment on fire and the award-winning photographer, Ryuichi Yanase, snapping pictures. Using evidence from the photos, Conan takes his deduction to the airwaves when Kogoro appears on a television show hosted by Ryuichi. Conan presents two photos to warrant Ryuichi's arrest with the help of Professor Agasa and Inspector Megure: a photo of Ryuichi's gold watch at the scene of the crime and a traffic violation photo with Ryuichi with the watch on.

While playing baseball, Conan and the Detective Boys accidentally throw the ball into someone's yard. On the way to retrieve it, they meet Yoshikazu Watanuki, a man who turns out to be the suspect of a murder case.

The police find Masao at Yoshikazu's house who buried the stolen jewels around the yard. The police are forced to excavate the yard, but they find no body. Conan is positive Yoshikazu killed Masao's sister just by the smirk he has on his face. The Detective Boys ask a witness who heard digging noises from Yoshikazu's yard on the day Masao's sister went missing to find the witness made a mistake and the noise was actually coming from the construction site next door. Conan calls the police and puts on a show telling his deduction. Conan points out the body is under a growing flower which sprouted from the victim received as a gift on the day she went missing.

Ayumi is hit by a red car and the other three members of the Detective Boys club chases after it on Conan's skateboard. They lose sight of it near a factory, but they find it again minutes later to chase it to a police station where a man named Kenichi Shishido turns himself in for hit and run. At the hospital, everyone is surprised to hear a man has been murdered in the factory where they were at. Conan finds a red car in a building beside the factory and other clues that point the murder to Kenichi. Conan knocks Kogoro out to explain Kenichi is the murderer and he purposely hit Ayumi and allowed the Detective Boys to chase him as an alibi. As proof, they find Ayumi's detective badge wedged in between the bumper of the car in the garage.
110	116	Cooking Classroom Murder Case (Part 1)	July 27, 1998			TV Original	Ice
Ran takes a French cuisine cooking lesson in Sonoko's absence and Conan and Kogoro tag along. There is a blackout while Conan and Kogoro head to the washroom and they find someone purposely tripped the circuit breaker using a weight and block of ice. Returning to the kitchen, the teacher is on the floor claiming to have trouble breathing and Conan discovers she's been punctured in the back. The police investigate and find evidence the attacker was someone from inside.

The four suspects is interrogated and searched. It seems everyone has a motive, but no evidence or murder weapon is found to pinpoint the killer. Conan does a little investigation of his own and finds a contact lens case outside the bathroom window and tinted contact lens in one of the mixing bowls. Just as the suspects pressures the police to let them go, Conan steps in reveal the trick was done by a sewing needle, string, and a ring to push the needle through and the only one wearing a ring is Nishitani. First appearance of Detective Tomokawa.
112	118	The Seven Mysteries of Teitan Elementary School Case	August 10, 1998			V16 - F4~5 (154-155)	School infirmary
Ayumi came to school one night to find a masked man. She told the vice-principal about it and he became absent for the last two days and the other teachers are acting suspicious. The Detective Boys sneak into the school at night where they find puppets with their names on it, mannequins and statues being moved, and someone trying to scare them with red paint and dry ice. The Detective Boys pretend to be scared and hide in the bathroom. When they come out, they find their teacher, Ms. Kobayashi, secretly practicing for the parent meet. However, she claims to not have tried to scare them off and they realize that someone else is indeed in the school. However, it is actually the vice-principal who lost his toupee and had been searching for it for the last two nights. First appearance of Sumiko Kobayashi and Ryujiro Uematsu.

Ran, Kogoro and Conan go to a small beach city, and they find a girl dead by drowning. Everything points at young Mitsuko committing suicide... but her best friend Tomoko thinks otherwise and asks Kogoro to prove it! The biggest suspect, Mitsuko's ex-boyfriend Dr. Tanaka, has a very good alibi, though. Can Conan break through it and see what's his role in her death?

Ran tricks her mother and father into going to the beach together. Kogoro, annoyed, leaves for the bathroom and returns with two girls named Kiwako Toda and Harumi Matsuzaki who invite the Mouri family and Conan to lunch with the scuba diving club at the local college. Kiwako decides to go snorkeling alone and asks Harumi to get her a towel during lunch. After awhile, the group spots Kiwako drowning and rushes to save her. Drowning is the least of their worries because Kiwako was bitten by a snake. Ran is sure she saw an erabu sea snake, but everyone is confused when she claims she saw the snake with wings.

The Mouri family, Conan, and the diving club members rush to the hospital where Kiwako is in intensive care. Conan and Eri is sure the events was an attempted murder case and Conan gets an idea who did it after a conversation Eri and Ran has about Kogoro. Conan knocks Kogoro out to use him to tell the deduction he has in front of Harumi. Conan believes Kiwako was only pretending to drown to test her fiancee's love for her and Harumi forced a snake to bite Kiwako to take advantage of the situation which explains the wings Ran saw. Harumi admit her mistake and is glad the antidote reached the hospital on time to save Kiwako.

A young woman shows up at the detective agency asking Detective Mori to find her father, a mystery writer, who vanished two months ago along with his wife. The only clue to his whereabouts is a piece found in his latest publication, but can Conan and the others solve the code? First appearance of Kaori Shinmei.

In continuation from the last case, the search for the mystery writer continues. Conan and the others must decipher the code in his text in order to solve the mystery of his and his wife's disappearance two months ago. Will Conan be able to do help them do this without blowing his cover?

A serial killer who strangles his victims first then stabs them though their wallet to their chest appears in Osaka. Heiji Hattori invites Conan, Ran, and Mouri for a tour in Osaka. While on the tour they meet Kazuha Toyama who has followed them since the beginning to "Keep an eye on Heiji from Ran". Later, their a body is dropped onto the car, the third victim of the same serial killer. After failing to prevent the fourth victim from being killed, they found out the victims are indeed connected, they took the driving test at the same time at the same place. Heiji then travels to meet up with the councilman named Gouji, who is a suspect of causing the murders. Conan is forced by Ran to travel with another officer to go to their hotel but due to an emergency, they are driven to the site where Numabuchi, a mass murder and also a suspect, is thought to be hiding. After Conan finds him, he realizes Numabuchi and Gouji are not the murderer. Heiji also realizes this and both figure out Sakada, the tour guide police, is the murderer. After stopping his suicide, Heiji is shot but survives. First appearance of Goro Otaki, Kazuha Toyama, Ginshiro Toyama, and Ki'ichiro Numabuchi.

Conan and the gang attend a Kamen Rider costume party. It's a duel between a Yaiba cosplayer and staff. Both shot their guns, but only one bullet kills. Is there more to this case than what everyone saw with their own two eyes?

Kogoro is invited to a mountain house by a previous client named Hiromi Yamazaki who wishes Kogoro to help with the announcement of a spa resort. While Kogoro is looking out the window, Hiromi falls from the second floor and is announced dead. Evidence show Hiromi was attacked by bees and accidentally ran off the balcony, but Conan believes there's more to the story and does an investigation of his own. Using a knocked out Kogoro, Conan declares the housekeeper, Shingo Aihara, as the killer who used Hiromi's apiphobia to his advantage and other tricks to ensure Hiromi fell to her doom.

Conan, Ran, and Kogoro are on their way to a Yoko concert when Kogoro discovers he lost his ticket. He overhears a woman named Masayo on the payphone and her situation about a friend who is unable to go to the concert because of a cold. Kogoro asks her for the spare ticket and she accepts as long as Kogoro drives her to her house to pick up her sister. Masayo finds the bathroom sealed with tape and when they break through, they find Masayo's sister dead. Everyone believes the death was a suicide, but Conan knows its murder.

The victim's fiancé busts in and tells the police he was ringing the door bell the day before because the victim missed an appointment. Conan knocks out Kogoro, and tells his deduction to everyone that Masayo is the murderer and the sealed room wasn't really sealed at all. To prove it, Conan directs the police to the bloodstain on the door and explains Masayo got blood on her headband and looked through the spy hole when the fiancé was ringing the doorbell.
123	130	The Weather Girl Kidnapping Case	November 9, 1998			TV Original	Beeper
Aki Asano, the weather girl for the local news, leaves a message for Kogoro's assistance. Kogoro is away because of business so the Detective Boys go instead to discover Aki has been getting threatening letters. Conan gives Aki his pager number just before she receives an urgent phone call and asks the Detective Boys to wait for her. She does not come back, but Conan begins to receive numbers as messages from her on his pager including the emergency telephone number. With a hint from Ran and Genta, Conan is able to decode the messages and pinpoint where Aki is and apprehend the kidnapper. Note: Currently the final episode of the English dub language release. Funimation had announced that they had no current plans to dub Detective Conan past this episode and have since lost the licensing rights to the show. All episode numbers proceeding this episode in the "Int#" column are International episode numbers as provided by TMS.

Seiji Ishimoto, president of an electronic company, claims he has been receiving threat letters and hires Kogoro as a bodyguard. As a government minister gets on stage at the banquet where they're at, he is shot and Seiji's shoulder is gazed. Conan spots a man on the balcony, but he is unable to find him. Kogoro spends the night at Seiji's hotel room keeping watch in case the murderer returns. In the morning, Kogoro receives a phonecall from Inspector Megure announcing the man on the balcony was found dead.

Seiji Ishimoto tells the police about the threat letters after he's approached by the minister's secretary, Tsuneaki Niikura. When everyone leaves the hotel room, Conan does a search, but he is interrupted by an unknown man who finds something. Inspector Megure questions Kogoro about Seiji's secretary and reveals she has a motive and shows a picture of her boyfriend who Kogoro recognizes as the person he bumped into as he left the hotel room. Kogoro calls everyone to the murder scene where he declares the boyfriend to be the killer. Conan stuns Kogoro to reveal Tsuneaki Niikura as the true killer who sent the threat letters to Seiji as a diversion.

While watching the Drama Traveling Troupe's practice run, the Director's sister Megumi finds the script writer dead. Aside from the murder, there is also a missing disc. What was the murderer's intent of taking the disc?! First appearance of Tamanosuke Ito and Megumi Ito.

Conan and Megumi sneak out during nighttime and follow the Director, Tamanosuke, to the stage. While there, the Director is struck in the head, and is put out of consciousness. In addition, the treasurer is found dead,and seems to have fallen to her death in the stage basement. A strange note is left both near the corpse and in Tamanosuke's hands. Furthermore, the disc was found in Tamanosuke's room, with the data deleted, and the disc thrown in the trash. Can the Detective Boys work together to find the murderer?

A bank robbery occurs and Akemi Miyano is a suspect. Conan investigates and finds out the money was to free her and her sister from the black organization. When Akemi meets with them, she finds out they planned to betray her and kill her. Conan manages to listen to her dying words and learns about the existence of the Black Organization. Reintroduction of Akemi Miyano (Her previous appearance) is ignored). Akemi Miyano's death. Conan reveals to her that he is really Shinichi Kudo. Gin and Vodka kill Akemi, and make it look like a suicide.

Status of Case Closed

Funimation has stopped dubbing Case Closed. They dubbed 130 episodes and 6 movies. However, Although they dubbed season 5, only half the season was dubbed. 11 Episodes were left undubbed. Including the introduction of the important Major Character, Ai Haibara. Ironically, Funimation dubbed movies that featured Ai Haibara as a main character, although she was renamed Vi Graythorn. This led to plot holes for the english dub viewers, as Ai just drops in during the movies, leaving fans who have never seen the Japanese Anime or read the manga (where she was renamed Anita Hailey) to question where she came from and who she is.
