They head to her house along with the police to discover that the drunk Soejima died when he fired a shotgun toward the ceiling, which caused a chandelier to fall on top of him. The police conclude it's suicide, however Conan believes it was a carefully planned murder. Conan investigates and discovers that in half a year, there were nine incidents where Soejima almost died due to his alcoholism and that Takahata was involved in all nine incidents.
