Detectives Takagi and Sato request Kogoro Mouri's help investigating multiple criminal activities that were plotted by the help of a mastermind. A criminal advisor who has been giving criminals plots for the "perfect crime".

When they arrived at Hamanaka's place, they are able to solve all the current crimes Hamanaka has provided, except for one, which was ordered by Tatsumi Wada. They have to find out who is the target and where is the weapon placed.

Wada's target was Misao Hamanaka all along, and the bomb was in fact placed in his office, where Sato, Takagi, Kogoro and Conan were. His motive was that Hamanaka sold him a bad plan years ago, making him end in jail. Conan successfully disarms the bomb and meets Wada on the rooftop of the building across Hamanaka's, because it was the place he would most likely be, to witness his crime get fulfilled. Wada willingly surrenders himself.
