Case

Situation

Mitsuhiko has a new radio transceiver that intercepts other peoples conversations, but when it intercepts a kidnap case, Conan must figure out the hidden location before a young daughter loses her life.

Junko's dad worked as the tenant of the building he lived in with his family. Some time ago a little girl died when she fell off a rooftop, which was caused by his negligence on repairing the rooftop door's broken lock; that kid was Tomidokoro's toddler daughter, and he blamed the tenant for it. Since Junko's dad was acquitted, he couldn't stand it and decided to take revenge.

Tomidokoro kidnapped and tied up little Junko, brought her to a nearby building's terrace, and then forced Junko's dad to do his bidding via giving him instructions through a walkie-talkie, before saying that he wanted the other man to stab himself to death, or Junko would die. This was foiled by Conan and the Detective Boys: Conan kicks off the walkie-talkie to Tomidokoro's face and knocks him out, then he uses and the released Junko use the w-t to tell this to her dad so he won't kill himself.

Later, Conan remembers that he had promised Ran to go cheer for her in her latest karate tournament and that he let that pass to rescue Junko! He hurries to the stadium and finds Ran, trying to make up a quick lie by saying he was impressed by how she won. It turns out that Ran had lost the match, so she got very angry with Conan for lying to her.

Trivia

• This is the first episode to adapted from the manga Detective Conan Special, with the next and final one being The White Sandy Beach Murder Case.
• This is the only episode that Electronic Notebook Map was used.
• The Detective Boys apparently think that Professor Agasa is Conan's relative who invents things.
• This is the first episode that Ran loss a Karate Match, if not the only one. Although she did state, "I used the back-kick in the semi-finals. I won the finals because my opponent got hurt and was disqualified." So it appears that she did Win it, but not to her satisfaction, and he did lie to her about attending it, which is the real reason for her anger, plus he broke his promise about attending it to her.
