Situation

Part 1

While Kogoro and Conan were taking break in a coffee shop below the Detective Agency, Azusa Enomoto asked for Kogoro's help. A customer left his cellphone two days ago and Azusa wanted to return it. While searching for clues about the customer's whereabouts, Yumi, a police officer, came and they found out that they were investigating about the same person. They later found out that the man they were looking for died in a car accident.

Part 2

After some investigation by Conan, Kogoro, and Yumi, there are able to locate the identity of the killed man, as well as the secrets of the cell phone. Conan figures out that the numbers are not real contacts, but are very important pieces of confidential and scandalous information.

The culprit is the man wearing sunglasses. The numbers in the cell phone are really information concerning the diet member Shuhei Baishou. The fat man intended on using this information to blackmail the diet member and the phone was meant as proof that he had that information. But he got the wrong location, when he was trying to pass over the phone, and died when he realized that and tried to correct it. Conan tricks the man wearing sunglasses to give up the number to the phone. With it the police track down the identity of the fat man, who was a reporter, and in his apartment, they found the evidence to arrest the Diet member.

Trivia

• The truck crash cell-phone owner is a 2002 Toyota Dyna.
• This is the first case with Azusa Enomoto since The Client Full of Lies, and she has been given another major makeover, and her first 'real' canon appearance.
• This appears to be the first case, where Kogoro actually called Conan, "Conan-kun," like practically everyone else.
• This is one of the first cases that Kogoro begins the case with a narrative.
• This case marks one of the first encounters that Kogoro had with Yumi. When he saw her, he stated that your always with Takagi, so he may be unaware that she is traffic, and not homicide, unlike Conan, who knew her name to be Yumi-san.
• This is the case that Azusa revealed that the owner of Cafe Poirot coffee shop, underneath the Mouri Detective Agency is a fan of mystery novels, and Hercule Poirot.
• This is the first case that ends with Kogoro giving a narrative.
• This is the first case that really showed Azusa and Yumi for any length of time, and really for the whole case.
• This is the first case that took place primarily at Cafe Poirot, rather than one short scene only, which has been the case up until now. This fact is interesting due to this coffee shop being located directly underneath the Mouri Detective Agency, and supposedly frequented by Kogoro, Ran, and Conan.
