Later, Shinichi and Ran Mouri take a trip together to an amusement park, where a man is murdered during a roller coaster ride. Shinichi deduces that the people in front and behind the victim are the suspects. Shortly after investigating the scene, he reveals who the murderer is in front of a crowd of people. After the case, Shinichi spots two suspicious black-clothed men. He decides to follow them and witnesses a deal taking place but is attacked from behind. The two men, intending to kill him, force him to swallow newly developed poison. Most of the main characters are introduced. First appearance of Shinichi Kudo, Ran Mouri, Kogoro Mouri, Juzo Megure, Gin, Vodka, Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, Genta Kojima, and Hiroshi Agasa. Shinichi turns into a 7 year old boy after being poisoned. Shinichi is secretly in love with Ran and imagines them admitting their love for each other. Later as Shinichi parts from Ran at an amusement park to check on some suspicious activities, Ran feels like she's seeing Shinichi for the last time (which will happen to have been somewhat of a premonition). Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Genta see the severed head of the victim fall in front of their eyes. The men in black poison Shinichi after he is discovered spying on them. Shinichi and Ran are presented as childhood friends and are shown to share a strong bond. Many other important facts about the characters are revealed (such as Shinichi's usual involvement in the police affairs). 2 2 Company President's Daughter Kidnapping Case January 15, 1996 May 25, 2004 V1 - F2~5 (002-005) Skyscraper Shinichi wakes up as a young child due to the effect of the poison. After running into Professor Agasa he decides he must hide his identity or those men in black will come back to finish off those connected to him. Shinichi renamed "Conan Edogawa" is placed in the care of Ran and her father, Kogoro Mouri who owns a detective agency which may allow him to gather information on the men in black. Kogoro receives a case to find a man's kidnapped daughter, Akiko. Conan drops subtle hints for Kogoro to solve the case revealing Asao, the butler, to have kidnapped Akiko but then a phone call reveals that Akiko has been kidnapped again. Conan follows the clues from the phone call and is able to locate her. After arresting the kidnapper, Kogoro, happy to have solved a difficult case, allows Conan to stay. First appearance of Conan Edogawa. Shinichi decides to hide his true identity, knowing the mysterious Men in Black would come back to kill him if they discovered he is still alive and begins to use the alias "Conan Edogawa". Shinichi begins to live Ran and her father. Ran admits to Conan she is secretly in love with Shinichi. 3 3 An Idol's Locked Room Murder Case January 22, 1996 May 26, 2004 V1 - F6~9 (006-009) Ice Conan at school meets up with Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, and Genta Kojima. The three decide to follow Conan home and make him one of their friends. Later Pop Idol, Yoko Okino, arrives at the Mouri Detective Agency claiming that a man is stalking her. Once there, they find a man with a knife in his back, dead. The man is revealed to be Yoko's high school boyfriend, making Yoko one of the three suspects. Conan investigates and figures out the truth. He knocks Kogoro out by kicking a cigarette tray to his head and with his Voice-Changing Bowtie uses Kogoro's voice to reveal the truth of how the crime was done. That night, Conan gives Ran a call and with his bowtie, using Shinichi's voice. He tells Ran he is on a difficult case and will return when he solves it. First appearance of Yoko Okino and Eiichi Yamagishi. 1) Agasa invents the Voice-Changing Bowtie. 2) Conan uses Kogoro to solve a case for the first time. Conan declines to walk home from school with classmates Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko. 4 4 The Coded Map of the City Case January 29, 1996 May 27, 2004 V4 - F7~10 (036-039) Neon sign After a day at the art museum, the Conan and his friends find a piece of paper with symbols and the word "Oro" written on it. Conan believes that it is a treasure map after he discovers "Oro" means gold in Italian. Conan and the Detective Boys then go around Beika City looking for the symbols indicated on the piece of paper but then they run into the Mafia! How will they get out of this mess? Creation of the Detective Boys. Ayumi gives Conan a kiss, thanking him for saving them as Mitsuhiko and Genta stare jealously. Conan and the Detective Boys manage to knock the thugs unconscious and run to the police. 5 5 The Shinkansen's Bomb Case February 5, 1996 May 31, 2004 V4 - F4~6 (h.a.) (033-035) Cell phone Conan runs into the two men in black from before on the Shinkansen bullet train. Upon investigating, he finds out they only resemble the two men. Using his new glasses and a bug, Conan overhears their conversation about a bomb in a black suitcase on board. Conan is able to narrow down the location of the suitcase leaving four suspects. He is able to figure out who has the bomb at the last moment and with his Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes invented by Agasa, Conan manages to kick it off the train just in time. Agasa invents the Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes and updates his glasses with a Microphone and listening device.     6 6 Valentine Murder Case February 12, 1996 June 1, 2004 TV Original Chocolate Ran is invited to a Valentine's party and Conan, jealously, follows her. The host, Katsuhiko Minagawa, falls dead from poisoning. Conan investigates and finds out that he was poisoned from the coffee served to the party guests. Conan uses his newly acquired Stun-Gun Wristwatch that shoots a tranquilizer dart to put Kogoro to sleep and with his Voice-Changing Bowtie, pretends to be Kogoro. Using Kogoro, Conan reveals the truth. First appearance of Sonoko Suzuki. Agasa invents the Stun-Gun Wristwatch. Conan is very protective of Ran and even stops a man from flirting with her. 7 7 Once-A-Month Present Threat Case February 19, 1996 June 2, 2004 V3 - F7~10 (026-029) Bar code Once a month for the past two years, a surgeon named Masayuki Ogawa has received toys and money totaling up to 25 million yen anonymously. He asks for Kogoro's help to find whoever is sending them. With Conan's suggestion, they check Ogawa's history of operated patients. During the investigation Ran begins to suspect that Conan is really Shinichi. When Conan tries out a video game that Masayuki received, he realizes that it belonged to a child, named Tomoya Ogino, that died during an operation led by Ogawa three years ago. He realizes Ogawa's son, Yuta, may be in danger and the group sets out to rescue Yuta before anything happens. That night, Conan manages to deceive Ran about his identity by getting Agasa to call her as Shinichi. Ran gets suspicious of Conan is really Shinichi for the first time. 8 8 Art Museum Owner Murder Case February 26, 1996 June 3, 2004 V4 - F1~3 (030-032) Ballpoint pen There are rumors that a mysterious ghost knight is roaming the local art museum, and Ran wants to check it out. When they go to check out the 'Hell' exhibit, they find Manaka, the manager of the museum, has been stabbed to death by the ghost knight. The clues seem to point to one person being the criminal, but Conan isn't convinced. Officer Tome's first appearance.   9 9 Tenkaichi Night Festival Murder Case March 4, 1996 June 7, 2004 V6 - F9 ~ V7 - F1 (059-061) Disposable camera Conan, Ran, and Kogoro attend a festival when Satoru Imatake, a famous writer, is murdered. Conan is certain that it was Norikazu Sasai, the murdered writer's partner but Sasai has a perfect alibi provided by photographs, including some taken by Ran. Did Sasai really commit murder? First appearance of Sango Yokomizo. 10 10 Pro Soccer Player Blackmail Case March 11, 1996 June 8, 2004 V7 - F8 ~ V8 - F1 (068-071) Video game The Detective Boys talk about the Sunday Cup, a soccer tournament, and mention Naoki Uemura and Hideo Akagi of the Tokyo Spirits. Afterwards, Conan returns to the Mouri Detective Agency to find a girl named Ryoko Akagi waiting in front. She asks Kogoro to find Shinichi Kudo, saying that she was his girlfriend. Ran gets jealous and angry and decided to go to her house, but Conan notices some strange things and realizes that Mamoru Akagi, Hideo Akagi's little brother, was kidnapped. After the solution to the case is revealed, Ran calls Shinichi's cell phone, the number of which he gave to Ryoko before, and chases Conan (unknowingly) to an alley where she confronts "Shinichi" about Ryoko. At that moment, Agasa drives up in his yellow beetle and helps Conan out. Conan replies to Ran using the bowtie with words that somewhat suggest feelings for her and he then hides in Agasa's car, escaping from Ran successfully. First appearance of Hideo Akagi and Naoki Uemura. Agasa invents the Portable Bento Box Fax. Ran is shown to be extremely jealous, believing Ryoko is Shinichi's girlfriend.   11 11-12 Moonlight Sonata Murder Case (1 Hour Special) April 8, 1996 June 10, 2004 V7 - F2~7 (062-067) Sheet music Kogoro receives a letter with a large sum of money from Keiji Asoh requesting that he investigate Moonlight Island. On the island, they discover that Keiji was a famous pianist and has been dead for twelve years. They believe the client wanted them to investigate Keiji and so they decide to question the Mayor. They learn that Keiji's piano is in the community hall and that the previous mayor was discovered dead with the song Moonlight Sonata playing in the background and that Moonlight Sonata was the same song Keiji played on his piano during the fire that killed him. During the funeral for the previous mayor, Moonlight Sonata is heard from the piano room and they find another man murdered there. Conan interprets the letter as indicating that the murders are just starting. Conan and the others spend the night near the piano along with Dr. Narumi Asai. The police interrogate everyone the next day who were at the funeral but another man is murdered. Music notes left by the killer reveal that whoever the murderer is is avenging Keiji Asoh. Conan begins assuming personal responsibility for the accused's survival as a detective. 12 13 Ayumi-chan Kidnapping Case April 15, 1996 June 14, 2004 V9 - F1~3 (081-083) School festival While playing hide-and-seek in the park, Ayumi hides herself in the trunk of a car and falls asleep. When she wakes, the car has already left the park, and Ayumi finds herself with a head of a girl wrapped in newspapers. Conan uses the radio transmitters the Detective Boys received from Professor Agasa to get clues and find where the car is heading. Agasa invents the Detective Boys Badges and Turbo Engine Skateboard. Conan and the boys try to rescue Ayumi 13 14 The Strange Person Hunt Murder Case April 22, 1996 June 15, 2004 V2 - F4~7 (h.a.) (013-016) ¥1,000,000,000 A woman named Masami Hirota shows up at the Mouri Detective Agency and asks Kogoro to find her father and only relative, Kenzou Hirota. Rearranging Kenzou's cat's name, they realize it's the name of a racing horse, and find him at a horse track. The next day, Kenzou is found dead and Masami missing. Conan remembers that he accidentally placed a tracker on Masami and tries to track her location but the batteries in his glasses run out. Later, a detective is revealed to be tracking Masami down for his client Akira Hirota who also claimed Kenzou was his only relative. First Appearence of Masami Hirota. Agasa invents the Criminal Tracking Glasses for Conan.   14 15 The Mysterious Shooting Message Case April 29, 1996 June 16, 2004 TV Original Calculator The Detective Boys watch as a sniper shoots a balloon by the river, but Conan notices that the sniper is held at gunpoint by other men. When the Detective Boys get there, the gunmen are nowhere to be seen, but Conan finds a message on a calculator that the sniper left behind. The message is only decoded when Conan turns the calculator upside down to discover the location of the sniper. The gunmen, holding the sniper and his wife hostage, force him to try and assassinate an important political figure. Can Conan stop the assassination from happening? 15 16 Missing Corpse Murder Case May 13, 1996 June 17, 2004 V6 - F6~8 (056-058) Answering machine While looking for a missing cat, the Detective Boys find the cat covered in blood. Tracing the source, they find a dead corpse in a house. After calling the police, they investigate the house but the corpse is nowhere to be found. 16 17 The Antique Collector Murder Case May 20, 1996 June 21, 2004 V6 - F2~5 (052-055) Drawer marks An antique collector, Denjiro Maru, asks Kogoro to investigate his wife's affair, but he is later found murdered. The crime scene is shredded by a sword and fake clues point to different people that had scheduled a meeting with the collector. 17 18 Hijacked Department Store Case May 27, 1996 June 22, 2004 TV Original Elevator girl The Detective Boys are accidentally locked inside a department store after hours when returning to retrieve Genta's Kamen Yaiba autograph. That night, thieves try to rob the store. They are soon found out and with clever strategies, the Detective Boys are able to apprehend the robbers. 18 19 A June Bride Murder Case June 3, 1996 June 23, 2004 V8 - F8~10 (078-080) Medicine capsule Ran and Shinichi's old homeroom teacher, Sayuri Matsumoto, is getting married, but before the wedding even starts, the bride is poisoned when she drinks her canned juice. Several suspects are caught on video including Sayuri's father, Kiyonaga Matsumoto, and Toshihiko Takasugi, the groom. Who poisoned Sayuri? First appearance of Kiyonaga Matsumoto. 19 20 An Elevator Murder Case June 10, 1996 June 24, 2004 TV Original Bouquet Ran is invited to be a model for a fashion designer company. After they arrive, one of the company's employees, Mika Taniguchi, is killed in the elevator. Conan is certain that the company's owner, Eiko Ashiya is the one who killed her but can't prove how as Mika went directly to the 8th floor in the elevator while Eiko went to the 15th. 20 21 A Haunted Mansion Murder Case June 17, 1996 June 28, 2004 V2 - F8~10 (017-019) Creepy basement Ayumi is walking home when she sees lights in an old abandoned house where an unsolved murder took place several years ago. She convinces the Detective Boys to sneak into and explore the house. Genta and Mitsuhiko suddenly disappear leaving Conan and Ayumi following an old woman down a hidden stairs where they find a caged man. Agasa invents the Elasticity Suspenders. The Detective Boys are informally founded. 21 22 On Location, TV Drama Murder Case June 24, 1996 June 29, 2004 TV Original Fu dog Yoko Okino is starring in a television drama and she invites Kogoro, Ran, and Conan to watch the filming but a cameraman is murdered at the shrine the filming is taking place at! The cameraman left behind a dying message in blood. Can Conan decipher it and reveal who the true killer is? First appearance of Wataru Takagi. 22 23 Luxury Liner Serial Murder Case (Part 1) July 1, 1996 June 30, 2004 V3 - F1~6 (020-025) Bread crumb Kogoro, Ran, and Conan miss their boat home from a vacation and are lucky to hitch a ride with the rich Hatamoto family on a private ship. The head of the Hatamoto family, Gozo is murdered, and the evidence all points to Takeshi whose father committed suicide when his company was taken over by the Hatamoto family. Takeshi is forced into a locked cabin for suspicion of murder. Everyone in the family is interested in the Hatamoto inheritance but are shocked to find that a will was made and the inheritance was signed to Natsue, the Head's granddaughter. Later a Hatamoto family member, Tatsuo, is found dead and Takeshi is missing from the storage room. First appearance of Natsue Hatamoto, Takeshi Hatamoto, and Joji Hatamoto. 23 24 Luxury Liner Serial Murder Case (Part 2) July 8, 1996 July 1, 2004 V3 - F1~6 (020-025) Sketch book Conan finds the crime scene of Gozo strange and believes that Takeshi is being framed. The boat's power is suddenly switched off and Ichiro, a grandson of Gozo, is stabbed in the dark. Everyone is suspicious of one another and accusations are thrown around. After looking in each of the rooms searching for Takeshi, Conan finds the evidence to prove Takeshi's innocence and the culprit guilty. 24 25 The Mysterious Woman With Amnesia Case July 15, 1996 July 5, 2004 TV Original Pendant A woman named Maya has amnesia and stumbles into Kogoro, Ran, and Conan. After leaving the hospital with Maya a car almost hits them and a piece of a building almost falls on them. Conan suspects that someone is trying to kill Maya, but also finds that Maya is acting strangely. 25 26 The False Kidnapping and Hostage Case July 22, 1996 July 6, 2004 TV Original Scuba gear Katsuhiko Takei's daughter, Naoko, is being held hostage by a kidnapper who is demanding 500 million yen. The first transaction meeting fails when the kidnapper finds out Takei called the cops about their meeting and escapes. During the escape, the van drives off the cliff and into the river. Conan finds evidence that the kidnapper escaped, but no evidence of a second person. 26 27 Pet Dog John Murder Case July 29, 1996 July 7, 2004 TV Original Conditioned response Conan is coming back from a restaurant with Ran and Kogoro when they hear a man scream. They enter the house and find a man has been jumped by a dog in the house, causing him to fall backwards off the stairs and into a wall. Pronounced dead, Conan suspects Masayoshi Sakaguchi, the owner of the dog called John. Conan suspects that Masayoshi trained John to kill the man, Takeshi Maehara, who bulled his son, Masato, causing him to suicide several years ago. Conan gives Kogoro subtle hints allowing him to solve the crime. 27 28 Kogoro's Class Reunion Murder Case (Part 1) August 5, 1996 July 8, 2004 V9 - F4~6 (084-086) Gun Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are out walking when a robbery occurs. Conan and Kogoro are able to take down the robber and hand him to the police. A crowd gathered to watch the scene and Kogoro's friend, Yumi recognizes him. After talking about the judo class reunion that is to take place that day, she leaves. While turning back, Conan and Kogoro realize the gun the robber had is missing. That night at the reunion, they plan to go out and watch fireworks. Kogoro's friends did not go leaving only Conan, Kogoro, and Ran. Yumi is missing from dinner so the judo members go to her room to wake her up from her sleep. There, they find her dead from a gunshot wound to the head and in her hand was the missing gun from before. Kogoro realizes that burn marks are missing from Yumi's temple meaning that it was a murder and one of the judo members is the suspect. First appearance of Jun Omura. *Kogoro meets with his old friends. *First case Kogoro solves by himself. 28 29 Kogoro's Class Reunion Murder Case (Part 2) August 12, 1996 July 12, 2004 V9 - F4~6 (084-086) Benkei Conan recognizes two things strange about Yumi's body; the finger was not on the trigger and she was naked under her robe. Conan then realizes who the murderer is and plans to tranquilize Kogoro to solve the case. Realizing how determined Kogoro is on solving the case, Conan instead decides to drop subtle hints and let Kogoro solve the case. Kogoro meets with his old friends. 29 30 Computer Murder Case August 19, 1996 July 13, 2004 TV Original Cat Okida, the chief executive officer of a computer software company is found to have died from a heart attack. Conan finds it strange that Okida was sweating a lot in his death, and that flowers delivered the day before died. Conan notices that Tokito, Okida's driver, is the only one with a motive. While talking with Tokito, he reveals he planned to start his own software company but became ruined due to Okida. Conan realizes that the heart attack was caused by an extreme change of temperature in a short time. Using the bowtie, he uses his voice as Shinichi Kudo and calls Inspector Megure and Kogoro Mouri to Tokito's house where Conan with subtle hints show that Tokito is the murderer. 30 31 Alibi Testimony Murder Case August 26, 1996 July 14, 2004 TV Original Cassette tape A lawyer's wife is found in her house, dead. Conan suspects the lawyer, but the lawyer has a solid alibi - he was with Kogoro Mouri at the time of death. The recording of a telephone call just before the murder breaks the alibi proving that the lawyer is guilty. 31 32 TV Station Murder Case September 2, 1996 July 15, 2004 V11 - F2~4 (102-104) Window Kogoro is invited to a talk show, but there is news that the TV producer was murdered. Conan is certain that one of the talk show hosts killed the TV producer, but it was impossible for him to shoot the producer during the show. Conan discovers the host shot him from above would give him enough time to come back during the break thus breaking the alibi. 32 33 Coffee Shop Murder Case September 9, 1996 July 19, 2004 V11 - F5~7 (105-107) Bathroom door Ran is meeting someone special at a coffee shop, and Conan insists on coming. While Ran leaves to get cake for Conan, there's a closed-room murder in the bathroom. Conan and one of the suspects, a lawyer named Eri Kisaki assist in solving the case. Ran returns revealing that the lawyer is her mother. Eri Kisaki's first appearance. 33 34 Detective Boys Survival Case October 14, 1996 July 20, 2004 TV Original Treasure map Professor Agasa gives the Detective Boys a treasure map and they go around, following the clues. However, there seems to be two men who are also looking for the same thing. When they reach their destination, they find jewels and the Detective Boys are confronted by the two men who are really jewel thieves. The real treasure was further in the cave. Conan was surprised as his father had been here.   34 35 Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case (Part 1) October 21, 1996 July 21, 2004 V5 - F1~5 (040-044) Peeping Ran and her friend Sonoko Suzuki are invited to her sister's club reunion. When they arrive they see a mysterious man wrapped in bandages on the bridge. The club's director is killed and Ran is attacked by the same man. When they try to leave, they find themselves stranded because the only bridge leading to the main road has been cut. Ayako Suzuki's first appearance. 35 36 Mountain Villa Bandaged Man Murder Case (Part 2) October 28, 1996 July 22, 2004 V5 - F1~5 (040-044) Piano wire The mysterious bandaged man tries attacks Ran again in the middle of the night. When Conan figures out the case, he tries to make Ran the detective, but knocks out Sonoko instead. Conan reveals Takahashi, the overweight set designer of the club, is not really overweight and he tried to kill Ran because she saw him without a shirt when she accidentally walked into his room. 36 37 Monday Night 7:30 p.m. Murder Case November 4, 1996 July 26, 2004 TV Original Curtain Ayumi is going to the dentist to get rid of a baby tooth. The dentist discovers a body and the police suspect her because she has a motive, but she also has an alibi. Conan confronts the dentist after he figured out the trick and she turns herself in. 37 38 Cactus's Flower Murder Case November 11, 1996 July 27, 2004 TV Original Portrait A woman comes to Kogoro's Mouri Detective Agency asking for help looking for a man. She says she is looking for him to start a relationship since she was dumped by her old boyfriend, but Conan is unsure about what she really wants with the man. Conan trails her to discover her old boyfriend died in a car accident caused by the man and she has been plotting to murder him. Kogoro Mouri and Conan reach the woman on time to prevent the murder. 38 39 Akaoni Village Fire Festival Murder Case November 18, 1996 July 28, 2004 V2 - F1~3 (010-012) Left-handedness Kogoro is asked to trail a man for three days, but the man is found murdered at the Akaoni Village Fire Festival the next day. The main suspect, the man who ordered Kogoro to trail the victim, gains over five billion yen of life insurance money, and since he was on a trip for three days, he has a perfect alibi. With clues from the photos taken by Kogoro and the suspect, Conan is able to determine that the victim died before the suspect's trip and the man who Kogoro was following was a man disguised as the victim. 39 40 Wealthy Daughter Murder Case (Part 1) November 25, 1996 July 29, 2004 V9 - F7 ~ V10 - F1 (087-091) A blackout A wealthy daughter goes missing and another man is killed at a villa. Conan gets even more worried when Ran is attacked and almost killed. Who is the murderer, and why would they want to attack Ran, who they've only known since yesterday? First appearance of Takuya Mifune. 40 41 Wealthy Daughter Murder Case (Part 2) December 2, 1996 August 2, 2004 V9 - F7 ~ V10 - F1 (087-091) Shirt stains The wealthy daughter is found dead, drowned in a bathtub. From the several clues, Conan figures out who the murderer is. According to Ran, the only thing she remembers about her almost being drowned is that Shinichi appeared out of nowhere and saved her. 41 42 Victory Flag Tearing Case December 9, 1996 August 3, 2004 TV Original Cutting style During a high school baseball game, the championship flag is slashed and evidence points that it was done by an outsider. With the help of Kogoro and Conan, they find new evidence that show it was done by an insider and the star pitcher and his mother both admit on committing the crime. From the way the flag is slashed and the height where the slash starts, Conan is able to determine the principal is the culprit. 42 43 Karaoke Box Murder Case December 16, 1996 August 4, 2004 V5 - F6~9 (045-048) Red nose reindeer A pop idol is poisoned after singing his hit song, 'Bloody Venus.' When tests come back negative on everything, it seems that the victim committed suicide. Conan is confident that this is not the case, and uses his own (Shinichi's) voice to solve the murder. At the end Shinichi "shows" himself to Ran in the dark and leaves her a gift before disappearing.

The are welcomed by the headmaster of the temple. But during dinner, when they hear Kogoro is a detective, the Master gets angry and wants him out of the Temple by tomorrow. Sadly the next day, the headmaster is murdered and they are four suspects: Kannen, Mokunen, Tonnen and Shunen. The same thing happened 2 years ago; a student was murdered. Agasa invents the Button Speaker. 53 55 The Mystery Weapon Murder Case April 7, 1997 TV Original Songbird While taking a walk together, Conan, Kogoro, and Ran heard a woman's scream from a nearby building. Her husband has been killed by a blow to the back of the head. Will Conan be able to see around the killer's trick? 54 56 Game Company Murder Case April 14, 1997 V12 - F4~6 (114-116) Numbered cloakroom tokens Kogoro is invited to a party for the release of a game which stores himself. While there, Conan runs into a man who uses the alias Tequila and learns that he plans to meet with Gin and Vodka. Conan follows Tequila to the bathroom where an explosion occurs and kills the man. Conan investigates the explosion and realizes that it was a murder attempt but the wrong person was killed. Conan knocks Kogoro out and uses his voice changing bow tie to reveal what had happened. Conan reveals that Tequila and Nakajima, one of the game designers, secretly exchanged suitcases. Conan reveals that the bomber is game designer Takeshita and that Nakajima was his intended target. As evidence, Conan reveals that Nakajima's suitcase's key would fit into the suitcase Takeshita is holding since that is originally Nakajima's suitcase. Takeshita confesses and denounces Nakajima for having an affair with his wife. Conan asks Nakajima what he knows about Tequila's acquaintances only to learn that he always meets them in the cafe in the Apollo building. Conan heads there only to find out Gin and Vodka had cause an explosion to hide evidence of them being there. Tequila's first appearance. Tequila wants the list of genius programmers around the world, but is killed by a bomb. 55 57 The Train Trick Murder Case April 21, 1997 TV Original On-board vending As Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are on their way home from a hot spring, they boarded a train together with a pair of doctors. They arrived at a station where one may change trains to another line, but no one could possibly change trains since the two lines are scheduled differently by a mere five-minute difference. At the station where the trio are to change trains to one going to Tokyo, a murder is discovered. The only suspect rides in the train with Conan's group while the victim rides on a train from a different line. Conan uncovers the trick used by the murderer using the change given by a lady working on the train of the victim. 56 58 The Ojamanbou Murder Case April 28, 1997 TV Original Surveillance camera Conan, Kogoro, and Ran are out jogging when they are attracted to a scene of a murder. One of the owners of the Sunfish Cleaning Company has been killed by a falling beam. Conan uncovers the trick by using window reflections. 57 59 Holmes Freak Murder Case (Part 1) May 5, 1997 V12 - F7 ~ V13 - F1 (117-121) Blanket Conan, Kogoro and Ran goes to a meeting where fans of Sherlock Holmes are there. There, they meet Heiji, who was hoping that Shinichi would be there. Things go bad when the host is put to sleep and put in a car which drives off a cliff, killing him. A member found out who did it, but she got killed when she was in another car that burst into flames. Heiji then got very suspicious of Conan's true identity as Shinichi, but when he tries to confront Conan, a blackout occurs and another member is injured by the killer, with a knife to the back. Who did this? 58 60 Holmes Freak Murder Case (Part 2) May 12, 1997 V12 - F7 ~ V13 - F1 (117-121) The Holmes test Conan and Heiji was able to solve the case, and fearing of his identity, Conan use Heiji instead of Kogoro to solve the case. The killer turned out to be the boyfriend of the second victim, and she was able to find out he did it because she decided to cheat off his Holmes test, but when she saw his test, it was blank, because he knew it would never be graded and he was busy preparing for the killing of the host. The killer did it because the third victim was the publisher of a Holmes book he didn't like, so he did this for Holmes. And after Heiji woke up, he reveals that he was spying on Conan the whole time during the deduction, so he now knows the truth about Conan, and he spills the beans. Heiji figures out that Conan is Shinichi.   59 61 The First Errand Murder Case May 19, 1997 TV Original Roadside corner mirror It's the first errand festival, were children are sent shopping on their own for the first time. The detective boys have been assigned to follow Hiroshi-kun, to record how well he did, and to make sure that no harm comes to him. His teacher appears at his house and decides to go to the theater, too. Conan and Ran tag along. Kogoro's case turns into a murder, but he soon breaks his backbone before Conan can solve it. Using things that Kogoro's teacher says, Conan finds out the murderer and reveals them using the body of Kogoro's teacher. 68 70 Night Baron Murder Case (The Case) July 21, 1997 V8 - F2~7 (072-077) Computer virus Professor Agasa offers Conan, Ran, and Kogoro a free vacation which they gladly accept, but when the Night Baron arrives the vacation is quickly changed into a case as murder occurs. Yuusaku Kudo's Night Baron character is explored. 69 71 Night Baron Murder Case (The Suspicion) July 28, 1997 V8 - F2~7 (072-077) Karate Another person assumes the role of Night Baron as Kogoro investigates the murder of Tokio Ebara. When he is found dead in the Night Baron costume, everybody believes it was an accident, but Conan thinks otherwise. Later Ran, Conan, and a member of the tour are attacked coming out of the elevator by the Night Baron. Ran fights him off but doesn't land a hit, which makes her believe she knows who is in the Night Baron costume. Can Conan solve this case even if the wind is a factor? 70 72 Night Baron Murder Case (The Resolution) August 4, 1997 V8 - F2~7 (072-077) Building winds Conan, Kogoro, and Inspector Yokomizo solve the case, but who is really Night Baron? 71 73 A Stalker's Murder Case August 11, 1997 TV Original Adhesive Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are out for a walk when they notice a man who drank a juice dies from poison. They later learn he was a stalking a young woman. After investigating, Conan find evidence to prove she was the murderer. The woman reveals she feared for her safety as the stalker pushed her down a staircase after she called the police. Conan then also reveals that the stalker planned to kill her on that day evidenced by his bag. He tells her with this, she should get a light sentence. 72 74 The Triplet's Country Home Murder Case August 18, 1997 V13 - F2~4 (122-124) Home Run A murder occurs and the suspects are triplets. First appearance of Yuzo Tomizawa. 73 75 The Detective Boys' Disaster Case August 25, 1997 TV Original The movement of the tides The Detective Boys, along with Ran and Kogoro, are at a beach one day when they come across two rich people; a snobby young man named Kogatsu, and a young woman named Shinobu. Genta finds an SOS in a bottle by Shinobu on a beach. They find her in a cave; reaching it by a raft. She explains Kogatsu tried to kill her by drugging her to sleep and letting the tides rise. The tides have risen to a point where they can not leave the cave. They venture into the maze of a cave and escape to a pool where they encounter Kogatsu and Kogoro. Kogatsu then holds Ayumi at gunpoint and threatens to kill everyone, but Ran and an old guard arrive in time to save them. In the end, Kogatsu is taken to jail as Shinobu looks sadly at the man who betrayed her love while Kogoro is sternly lectured by the old guard for fishing in the pool, which is off-limits. 74 76 The Death God Jinnai Murder Case September 1, 1997 TV Original Elevator Ran, Conan, and Kogoro are at a movie premier of Jinnai King of Death VIII. After the show they see Hayato Nanjo greeting fans, he plays Jinnai in the movie. Then Kogoro is spotted by Hayato's wife who shows him a death threat that says Hayato will die at midnight just like in the movie. His wife is worried but Hayato brushes it off. Reporters and Kogoro have a stake out when Jinnai appears and makes for Hayato's room. They arrive by elevator and when Kogoro comes out he trips on vinyl tape. They hear a scream and Hayato's dead with a bullet to the head. 75 77 Loan Company President's Murder Case September 8, 1997 V15 - F7~9 (147-149) Toilet Kogoro is playing Mahjong when they called a Loan Company President to play with them. When they find him in his office, he has died from cyanide poisoning. The suspects are three of his employees. The poison was only found on the victim's thumb, money, and door handle, but no where else in the office. Conan solves the mystery, showing how cyanide was erased with Bleach. The culprit explains how it was for revenge for putting the person's loved one in such a great debt. 76 78-79 Conan vs. Kaitou Kid (1 Hour Special) September 22, 1997 V16 - F6~9 (156-159) Pearl Conan is not actually Aoyama's first character. There's another one who happened to face Kudo once... What happens when the infamous magician of the moonlight squares off against our child detective? First appearance of Kaitou Kid, Kaito Kuroba, Aoko Nakamori, Ginzo Nakamori, and Shintaro Chaki. First time Conan and Kid face off. Heist: The Black Star. 77 80 Distinguished Family's Consecutive Accidental Death Case (Part 1) October 20, 1997 V15 - F10 ~ V16 - F3 (150-153) Great detective of the West Kogoro is recommended by someone to a wealthy family for a routine assignment; the man wishes to find his first love. With the police roaming around the house, though, Conan begins to wonder if that's really all there is to it. His answer comes when suddenly, the son of the wealthy man supposedly kills his child hood friend. Later they celebrate the chairman's birthday, then Nobuko became very angry at Miyuki and go out in the room. Later they receive calk from Mitsuaki, that he was attacked by a man wrapped with bandages. Later, they saw Hideomi biting a knife, and found Mitsuaki stabbed and found at the spike fence. 78 81 Distinguished Family's Consecutive Accidental Death Case (Part 2) October 27, 1997 V15 - F10 ~ V16 - F3 (150-153) Fountain pen Conan and Heiji decide to pursue the clues of the childhood friend. The clues allow them to solve the murder, but they also allow Ran to come closer to the truth about Shinichi. Can Heiji help Shinichi keep his secret?   The reason Conan couldn't let Miyuki Hyoga commit suicide is because of what happened during the Moonlight Sonata Murder Case. 79 82 The Bank Heist Murder Case November 3, 1997 TV Original Mobile phone After bowling, Ran, Sonoko, and Conan head to the bank to check in a cheque. While there, an armed bank robbing happens. After some struggle, one man is shot by the robber but survives. After being shot, another man struggles with the robber and ends up shooting and killing the robber. It all seems normal but Conan finds it strange. After figuring out the robber had an accomplice, Conan, using Sonoko, reveals the robber's accomplice. He reveals the two planned to use the money to pay off their debts and make some cash. 80 83 The Wandering Artist Murder Case November 10, 1997 TV Original House cleaning While at a painting exhibit, Conan notices a man in rag examining a picture. The next day while playing baseball with his friends, he notices the man again. After being asked about his drawings of a home, the man realizes he has been drawing unconsciously, and holds his head in pain. In the hospital, he was revealed to have been affected by amnesia and the pain was his returning memories. The man leaves the hospital. The next day while playing baseball, Genta finds the man dead. Conan finds out the man is an artist who's been missing for a year. His wife is the only one who can identify the body but she proclaims it's not him. Conan proves that the man was the artist by fingerprints he left behind when he came home after regaining his memories. Conan shows them who the murderer was. 81 84 The Kidnapping of a Popular Artist Case (Part 1) November 17, 1997 V15 - F4~6 (144-146) Two-Mix A famous singer from the band Two-Mix is kidnapped and they demand the Detective Boys to deliver the bag belonging to the singer. The police tail the Detective Boys and when captured, find out Ayumi is disguised as Conan and that the kidnappers demanded Ayumi to deliver the item. Two-Mix's first appearance. Agasa invents the Earring Cellphone.   82 85 The Kidnapping of a Popular Artist Case (Part 2) November 24, 1997 V15 - F4~6 (144-146) New Year's Eve midnight bell Conan meets up with the kidnappers and just when he was about to defeat them, the Detective Boys arrive and are captured. The kidnappers leave and then set the room on fire. While at the concert, the Detective Boys accidentally start the music too early, and if stopped it will anger the crowd even more. Conan tries to sing but that angers the crowd. The singer then takes the Detective Boys out with her to sing. 83 86 General Hospital Murder Case December 1, 1997 TV Original Coffee Kogoro Mouri is in the hospital after injuring his ankle. While there, he witnesses a shadow of a murder. After causing an uproar three times and finding the place where the murder took place was an empty room, the murder occurs on the fourth time. Conan figures out that light is being reflected to that room and that the the first three times were in a different room while the fourth one occurred in the room Mouri presumed. The culprit has an alibi of talking to the nurse in another room at the time of the murder. Mouri is desperate to go into the Sleeping Kogoro phase to prove his innocence and happily exclaims it's coming when Conan secretly shoots a tranquilizer dart. Conan disproves the culprits alibi and proves Mouri to be innocent. 84 87 Ski Lodge Murder Case (Part 1) December 8, 1997 V14 - F9 ~ V15 - F3 (139-143) Heater Ran, Sonoko, and Conan run into their old third grade teacher, Akiko Yonehara, who invites them to spend the night at a Mountain Villa. A mysterious journalist arrives and tells them a massacre similar to three years before will happen that night. Can Conan help find the clues before too much damage occurs? 85 88 Ski Lodge Murder Case (Part 2) December 15, 1997 V14 - F9 ~ V15 - F3 (139-143) Hair Ran solves the murder with Conan's suggestions, but the true identity of the culprit was so shocking to her that she reveals it in tears and breaks down crying on Conan shortly afterwards. Conan calls Ran with Shinichi's voice and helps her solve the case.
