Situation

Part 1

The Detective Boys are hiking on a trip to find stag beetles on a mountain forest. There Conan receives a photo of Ran in a swimsuit from Sonoko. Later Conan receives a phone call from Ran and Sonoko who tells "Shinichi" that a burglar tried to steal Sonoko's bag. Since it relates to a murder, Conan investigates the picture sent by Sonoko to learn about the dying message. While at it, he helps the Detective Boys solve one of Agasa's code.

Later Conan solves both codes and finds out that Ran and Sonoko are riding with the murderer (Kano). The message on the window was misread, as the victim wrote it while lying down and Sonoko saw it in reverse. He was the one who stole Sonoko's phone because of the picture. The message that Conan got was an attempt to track him down and get rid of the picture that Sonoko had sent him. Ran's phone rans out of battery, so to warn the girls Conan calls Sonoko's phone, expecting that the killer left it on waiting for Shinichi to contact him.

Attempted Murder
	Location: Forest Victim: Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki Attack type: Stabbing Culprit: Kano Kano tries to kill them with his knife but gets knocked out by Ran.

The culprit demands to know of Shinichi's whereabouts and tries to kill them but Ran knocks (front kick to the face) him out with her karate and causes Kano's car to crash into a tree. Later, Conan's picture of Ran is deleted by Haibara and the Detective Boys say that they asked Haibara to do it and that he should not have access to those kind of materials.

Trivia

• Kano's vehicle is a Garnet Red Pearl 2003 Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 GT [BL].
• The anime included a joke episode title card "There was it, a murder case" when Sonoko explain her deduction to Shinichi.
