Part 1
Ayumi decides that on the Detective Boys camping trip, she will attempt address Ai Haibara by her first name and to call her "Ai-chan". While driving Conan talks to Professor Agasa about the black organization. Agasa reveal that there a bit more to the Itakura's diary. After the woman spoke in English she hung up the phone after a cat meowed in the background. Agasa reveals that he knew Haibara's father Professor Miyano through meeting him at conventions. He describes him a friendly man who complimented his inventions. But his wife was the strange one. Her name was Elena and Agasa had heard that she met professor Miyano when she came from England to Japan to study. During the camping trip, they run into four college students, who are a club called 'The Outdoor Club'. Each contribute to the club in their own way, Yasumi is a great cook, Reiji is the driver, Takuto is skilled at fishing and finding eatable plants and Haruka is paying for everything. Haruka claims that she doesn't have any real talent like the others, so paying is all she can do. The club offer The Detective Boys a ride in their campervan to the top mountain to watch the fireworks. While driving down the mountain, one of the four college students, Yasumi Shirafuji, is found on the road dead.

Evidence atop the mountain suggests Shirafuji lost control of her bike and accidentally went over the cliff. Conan reveals that there is a lack of blood on the cement raising the possibility it was a murder made to look like an accident and that the suspects are the three college students.
Part 2
After a thorough investigation, Conan finds out how the body was placed on the road and who the murderer is.

Trivia
- Four college students (Reiji Fukuura, Yasumi Shirafuji, Haruka Tendo, and Takuto Meshiai) camp car is a 2001 Toyota Camroad Leo.
- Reiji Fukuura reappears at Miracle Land in The Private Eyes' Requiem.
- Part One of this case with Ai Haibara makes the 200th episode since her introductory episode in The Girl from the Black Organization and the University Professor Murder Case, exactly 200 episodes ago.
- In the first scene of this case, Ayumi is on the phone with a girl, Megumi-chan, who might possibly be Megumi Ito from The Traveling Drama Troupe Murder Case, even though Ayumi is in Class B, and that Megumi was in Class C.
- To back this up, Megumi-chan made a reference to Conan-kun and the others going camping with Ayumi, and Megumi Ito stated in the other case, that when she saw Conan at school, she asked about him.
- Although it is possible for them to have a classmate in 1-B with the name of Megumi as well.
- Although Ayumi's address book is not subtitled, she does seem to keep a record of her friends, and their honorifics, and noticed Ai Haibara's honorific is a lot more formal than everyone else's.
- Conan-kun
- Mitsuhiko-kun
- Genta-kun
- Haibara-san
- Unknown about other male classmates, however...
- All other Female classmates are First Name-chan.
- And even the boys in the Detective Boys are first name-kun.
- When Conan was asking Agasa about the diary, he is referring to Suguru Itakura's diary, which was found along with his corpse in On the Trail of a Silent Witness, and they were looking into the diary in Contact with the Black Organization.
- This is the case that Professor Agasa told Conan that he does know Atsushi Miyano, who he did not know at the time to be Haibara's father, however he has met him at a number of conferences.
- This is the case that Conan referred to Atsushi Miyano as that Outlawed Mad Scientist."
- This is the case that Agasa thought Atsushi's wife, Elena Miyano was suspicious, at least compared to her polite husband.
- This is the case that leads to Haibara giving Ayumi permission to call her Ai-chan instead of Haibara-san.
