Ran collapses at the restaurant! Inspector Jugo Yokomizo takes her into his police car to escort her to the local hospital, as it will be faster than calling an ambulance. While in the car, Ran dreams about the time she spent with Shinichi in New York, after their plane trip. While there, they meet with Yukiko, and as well as Sharon Vineyard. While attending a play, a murder occurs right on stage, and a gun is found in an empty private booth.

Shinichi, with the help of Yukiko Kudo, is able to present his deductions, and solve the case. When leaving, it is raining, and Shinichi and Ran walk together, when Shinichi checks an abandoned warehouse when he hears a suspicious man is in there. While Ran waits outside, she meets up with Shuichi Akai, who at that point had long hair, and was wearing an FBI jacket. He warns her to leave, but she stays, waiting for Shinichi. After Akai leaves, Ran confronts the serial killer! He decides to kill her. After the killer accidentally falls off of a stairwell, Ran grabs his hand, which astonishes the killer. Shinichi then comes to the rescue! After Shinichi explains his and Ran's noble reasons for ever saying someone, the killer silently vows to leave them alone, while Shinichi carries an exhausted Ran off. Akai and the FBI kill the serial killer just a short while later. Ran wakes up, recounting that this was when she finally fully fell in love with Shinichi. | |||||||||

Conan, Haibara, Agasa, and the Detective Boys are all exercising outside of the school for the school's summer program. However, Mitsuhiko is nowhere to be found. After asking his sister, they learn he's been spending time at a botany store. After going there, they learn that they still cannot find him. They then try calling him on his badge, but he doesn't answer. Conan uses his tracking glasses to discover that Mitsuhiko is somewhere in Gunma, deep in a forest. When in the forest, they see Detective Yamamura and his police officers looking for someone in the forest. It turns out that they were guarding famed serial killer Kichiro Numabuchi, and were escorting him in the forest to look for a body he had dumped there, as well as where he lived. However, they lost him. Mitsuhiko is alone in a forest, while Numabuchi is running around in there himself! The episode ends with only a shot of Mitsuhiko's scared face, as he is taking deep breaths.

Haibara tells Conan that Numabuchi was the original test subect for APTX 4869, but he later escaped. Mitsuhiko runs into Numabuchi! However, Numabuchi, which still unstable, does not hurt Mitsuhiko. After Yamamura, Conan, Agasa, Haibara, and the Detective Boys find Mitsuhiko, and Yamamura arrests Numabuchi, fireflies drape the forest, which makes Numabuchi smile and remember his past. His real reason for returning to the forest one more time was to see the fireflies for the last time, which are his last truly positive memory of his childhood. Mitsuhiko also tells everyone why he never answered the badge: his hands were full. He walks up to Haibara and Ayumi, and opens his hands, revealing a firefly. He had gone over to Gunma to catch one for the two of them, as they had wished to see one. | |||||||||

Heiji and Kogoro is invited to Okinawa to appear on a detective competition show to solve a mysterious murder that has plagued the area's tourism. Heiji is taken to the island where the body was found with Conan, the girls, and a couple of TV crew members named Masao, Yoshitsugu, Noburo, Yoshie, and Mikihito, and a boat captain. They are shown an abandoned house that was owned by the mayor with a message about the sleeping place of a princess scratched onto the porch. Yoshie is missing when its time to go and she is found strangled on the beach. The group is unable to go home because the captain fled on the boat, so they are forced to spend the night in the abandoned house. | |||||||||

Conan, Heiji, Ran, and Kazuha listen to the story about the mayor's daughter being kidnapped and his priceless golden by?bu stolen by three men. The group split into two to search the house in case there is an unexpected guest. Heiji and Conan search the bedroom to find a picture of the mayor's kidnapped daughter and the names "Chiyo-nii" and "Kaa-chan" written with crayon on the walls and bed. When they can't find anyone, everyone returns to the dining room when there's a loud crash from outside. They find their boat crashed into the pier with the captain beaten to death. | |||||||||

Heiji dresses up as Yoshitsugu, one of the TV crew members, and runs into the forest where he is strangled. He manages to free himself and confront the attacker, Mikihito, also one of the TV crew members that was with them all along. Heiji and Conan explain their deduction about how Yoshitsugu, Yoshie, the captain, and the mysterious dead man found on the island were the four members who robbed the mayor's golden by?bu and Mikihito killed them as revenge for killing his wife in the robbery. Mikihito admits that he's the killer, but didn't know Yoshie was the mayor's missing kidnapped daughter who faked the kidnapping to test her father's loved for her. | |||||||||

Genta wins a prize in lottery to participate in the "Volcanic Cup" Tennis tournament for charity in Kumamoto,so Kogorou,Ran, Sonoko, Conan, Ai-chan and the Detective Boys travel there. While there Sonoko and Ran find a cell phone abandoned at on it there is a message for another Sonoko curious to know who is sending the message Ran and Sonoko decide to meet the person who sent the message. While waiting at a coffee shop Sonoko leaves to go to the bathroom Ran overhears two men talking about some job involving a "Sonoko-san" and they were also planning to kill someone today hearing this Ran tries to run from the criminals but is knocked out from behind by someone and gets kidnapped. After regaining her consciousness she calls Sonoko to tell her that she has been kidnapped and gives clues to her location and also manages to tell Conan the plan of those criminals to kill someone. With only these clues in hand will Conan be able to save Ran? | |||||||||

Kisaki found herself defending a burglar being charged by the state prosecutor with murder instead of manslaughter. The burglar had been caught in the act in the inner office of a company by the proprietor. He managed to flee after a struggle where he knocked out his opponent with an ashtray. The proprietor had been discovered dead by his son-in-law and the building superintendent, who witnessed from the eyehole of the inner office door the taking place. The superintendent went to call the police while the son-in-law knocked the door open. According to the charges, the suspect forced the victim to open the safe, where a large sum of cash was discovered missing, and subsequently fled through the window. The suspect admitted the burglary attempt, hitting the victim, but denied stealing the money. During the first hearing, Kisaki discovered the reason why the prosecution pressed for the murder charge - the victim had once cheated the daughter of the suspect. Ran persuaded Kogoro to investigate to help Kisaki defend the suspect. | |||||||||

The death of Satou's last partner haunts her when she is put up against the same bomber. The bomber likes to place bombs around the city. Some bombs will display the location of an even bigger bomb if left for the last three seconds, this resulted in the death of Satou's partner in the past. After following clues placed by the bomber, Takagi and Conan are trapped in an elevator, where they await the bomb's clue to the location of an even bigger bomb. Conan disarms the bomb before the last second as he has already figured out the last part of the code. He stops the bomber and he is captured. | |||||||||

Mori Kogoro was invited to make an introduction in an episode of a popular detective TV serial. The star of the show revealed himself to be very disagreeable with the rest of the cast, one of whom, Ruri Amaki (?? ?? Amaki Ruri ) turned out to be a fellow classmate of Kogoro when they were children. Ruri revealed to Ran and Conan who were present that she, Kogoro, and Kisaki, were classmates since kindergarten. Ran and Conan learned that the brainy Kisaki and the underachiever Kogoro seemed inexplicably drawn to each other, to quarrel. As the other classmates suspected, time showed that the arguments were intended to disguise their mutual attraction. The star challenged Kogoro to solve the mystery of the murder scene being filmed. To prevent Kogoro from embarrassing himself, Conan used the tranquilizer dart on Kogoro and cracked the puzzle with the clues present. During a break in the filming, the star was discovered with his throat slit, with Ruri over the body and her hands bloody. | |||||||||

During a break in the filming, the star was discovered with his throat slit, with Ruri over the body and her hands bloody. No murder weapon could be found. The immediate suspects were members of the cast, including Ruri and the Nagumo (?? ) father-son. As the murder took place in the jurisdiction of Shizuoka Prefecture (??? Shizuoka-ken ), Inspector Sango Yokomizo (?? ?? Yokomizo Sango ) arrived to take charge of the investigation. Kogoro and Conan worked hard to find the clues. When Conan finally figured out the solution, he realized he had used up his only tranquilizer dart earlier, and had to resort to nudging Kogoro towards the truth. | |||||||||

A game developer is murdered in his hotel room, and the main suspects are three company owners who had come to Kogoro to ask him to find and locate the man, as he had been missing for a month. Conan discovers that the man was a contact of Tequila, and was working on a program for the Black Organization! Conan must get the floppy containing the man's diary, but he must solve a case, in which the only clue is a game of go on the table. Can Conan solve the case?

With the help of Megure's clumsiness with computers, as well as the game of go on the table, Conan is able to solve the case. He finally obtains a copy of the man's diary. After the case, Conan and Ran are walking home, and Ran begins to cry, thinking that Shinichi's heart may have changed when it comes to his feelings about her. While Conan tries to help make her feel better, a man comes out of a phone booth... Shuichi Akai!

Akai immediately recognizes Ran from the New York case, wondering why whenever he sees her, she is crying. Later, Conan heads to Agasa's home to see the floppy, which seems like a normal diary at first. However, after highlighting suspiciously blank portions of the floppy, Conan and Agasa discover that the man indeed has ties to the Black Organizatiopn. Agasa and Conan both head to the man's house in Gunma to investigate, and discover that it is bugged in numerous places. Vodka calls the house, leaving a message asking for the program that the man was making, and decides to come out prompty. Conan is able to convince him to meet him at a certain place in a few hours, to deliver the program.

Agasa and Conan escape, but their tire is flat, and they are picked up by two people in a fancy car. Conan suspiciously notices that the driver has no idea how to operate the car. The car is stopped by a road block set up by Detective Yamamura who says that he is looking for two bank robbers and kidnappers, whom he shot in a case a few hours before. Conan finally realizes who the people are. After more driving, Conan confronts the two criminals.

The criminals try to escape, but Conan is able to capture them in time. He then boldly tries to meet with Gin and Vodka at the place, and hides in a locker, placing a tracker on Vodka's shoe. Gin discovers this, and prompty destroys it. Conan passes out in the locker, only to be woken up by Haibara later that morning.

The Junior Detective Club accompanied Ayumi to an apartment where she was promised by the owners, to replace her own broken ningyou (traditional Japanese doll), a complete set of 7-tier Hinamatsuri dolls if she could correctly position the dolls. Conan surprised Ai by his knowledge of how the individual dolls were to be arranged, what was supposed to be a girl's hobby. Conan revealed he had been made to help his childhood friend organizing the dolls when he was younger. After the dolls were correctly assembled, a neighbour came by and brought along a professional art connoisseur to verify the genuineness of an Edo era Raijin antique painting scroll hung openly in the apartment. The neighbour wanted persuade the owners to let him buy it to complement the F?jin picture he already acquired. However, as it was an heirloom, the owners refused to sell. The connoisseur was upset at the lack of care in how the antique artwork was treated. Both left shortly, after the neighbour reminded the owners they were having financial difficulties. The children went on an errand to buy wine for the owners to make amazake as a treat for them. When they came back, they ran into the connoisseur who claimed he left his mobile behind. Reaching the apartment, they discovered nobody answered the door which was unlocked, and upon entry, discovered the apartment in a mess and the valuable painting had disappeared.

The police was called into what appears to be a break-in that occurred while all occupants happened to be out. However, Conan pointed out the clues which narrowed down the suspects to the neighbour who had been trying to purchase the painting without success, the art connoisseur, the old lady who lived in the apartment with her son and daughter-in-law, the son being absent from the story as he was at work the whole time.Conan also noticed that though the positions of the dolls had been disturbed, it reflected the traditional precedence was given to the left over the right, a custom which was only changed during the Meiji era. The more obvious suspects would be the old lady who originally came from Kyoto in Kansai region where many older traditions were still observed and the connoisseur who would have specialist knowledge of the subject. | |||||||||

Conan, Kogoro, and Ran visit one of Kogoro's old friends, an artist, in a place shrouded by a bamboo forest. The man's apprentice called Kogoro in, as the sensei has been very depressed lately. The man is shown acting incredibly rude and cold to various people who are with him, leaving even a little boy crying. Later, the man is found dead, hanging from bamboo. At first, it is believed to be a suicide, but Conan believes otherwise. Conan discovers the killer's incredibly clever trick, and stuns Kogoro to solve the case. | |||||||||
