Situation

The Detective Boys are walking home one day when they discover two S-Hooks and a wedding ring engraved with the initials M to A. They see this combination of items as an S.O.S. message, and decide to investigate.

The culprit is the woman who claims to be Misato Uehara. The letters on the ring are "M to A", from Misato to Akihiko, since it is Akihiko's ring, not Misato's. However, the culprit thinks that the letters are "A to M", revealing that she is the fake Misato. Her real name is Ikuyo Hasegawa.

Kidnapping
	Location: Apartment building Victim: Conan Edogawa Culprit: Ikuyo Hasegawa Ikuyo prepare to made Conan to sleep with chloroform.

Ikuyo attempts to drug Conan but is put to sleep. Conan then rescues the real Misato.

Ikuyo's motive is then revealed. She came to kill Akihiko, who fired her because she scammed huge amounts of money from the company. However, she only met Misato, Akihiko's wife, so she intended to use her as a hostage.

Later, the Detective Boys, including Haibara, force Conan to carry all of their book bags home by himself as punishment for "stealing the spotlight" of the case for himself.

Trivia

• This is one of the first episodes that shows that Mitsuhiko is the most intelligent Detective Boy, obviously NOT counting Conan and Haibara.
