Plot

As everyone watches Tamaki's parka catch fire, Yuuta rushes over to help her, while Conan yells at her to take it off, which she swiftly does, flinging it away in the snow. The Detective Boys then put shoes on their head, remembering what professor Agasa said about how to escape the Rōjinbi, which they think has caused the fire. Haibara stares at them asking them if they are alright, and the three affrightedly say that this is to ward off the yōkai (monsters in Japanese folklore). Conan examinates the parka and sees how the outside of the left sleeve is charred, but the lining is intact, showing that the fire started from the outside. However, he remembered that Tamaki was not holding to anything earlier and that even with the parka being made from flammable material, it should not catch fire that easily. He thus deduces that this was a deliberate attempt at Tamaki's life but cannot figure out the method nor the culprit. Meanwhile, Tamaki exclaims herself that Takehiko's soul must have lit her arm on fire to let them know that his soul is still with them. Kaori replies that this is only an accident, as Takehiko would never want to do this, since Tamaki could have died. Shichisuke thinks that the legend of the Sacred Light of the Dead must be true and that their video will rake in many views, but Kaori tells him not to upload it. Conan asks Yuuta if Tamaki and Takehiko dated, which he confirms, saying that they were the perfect couple, but that he and Shichisuke were a bit jealous after Tamaki turned both of them down. Conan then gives a quick call to detective Uehara and asks her if there was any evidence in of foul play in the fire that killed Takehiko three months ago. Uehara says that there was no such evidence, and that the police concluded it was caused by a shelf full of newspapers that fell on a stove. She adds that inspectors Yamato, which she almost calls Kan-chan, and Morofushi went on site to investigate back then. She says that they discovered signs that Takehiko was struck on the head, and Conan wonders if it could have been murder. When Uehara says that she will ask Yamato before ending the call, she slips up and almost calls him Kan-chan again, making her two colleagues laugh at her.

Still at the lodge, Shichisuke keeps arguing for the video to be uploaded, as their channel has been stagnating for a while, but Kaori refuses, saying that it is a tasteless prank exploiting her brother's death, while Yuuta thinks that there is no way people will think it is real. An angry Tamaki then shoves Kaori, saying that Takehiko is not dead, but as Kaori backs into the wall, smoke suddenly rises from the back of her parka. Everyone quickly rushes over, fearing the worse, and take it off Kaori. They notice a burn mark under the hood. Shichisuke becomes even more excited, saying that they have evoked Takehiko who is now present as the Sacred Light of the Dead. Yuuta then grabs the latter and asks him if this is a deliberate prank he set up. Agasa interrupts them to defuse the situation, and without knowing what to say, his stomach starts growling, making everyone realize they should have dinner soon. The Compass Detective League invites the Detective Boys' group to have dinner at a restaurant they checked out, and propose they follow their car since it is a bit of a drive away. Agasa agrees to join. Before leaving the lodge, Yuuta proposes himself as the driver of the Mini since he does not like being in the van with Tamaki turning the heater on high. Shichisuke says that the heater in the Mini is broken, so it is rather cold, but Yuuta does not mind and would rather even keeping the window rolled down. The group then leaves the lodge, with Conan taking a last look at Kaori's parka. He notices that the burn mark is not even hot and that they did not smell the burn earlier.

The three-car convoy sets up on the road. Genta wonders why they also have the Mini, since the van is big enough for the four of them. Mitsuhiko, as a Compass Detective League fan, explains that the Mini is their channel trademark, with Tamaki driving it in videos and this is supposedly how she travels around the country in search for haunted places. Mitsuhiko remarks that not everything is as they show it online, adding that Tamaki is supposed to be a clean-freak from what they see in the videos, but that in real-life, the real clean-freak is Kaori. As they say this, in the van, Kaori is dispensing some hand sanitizer on her hands. When Tamaki comments on her doing it again, she says that she had a really bad bout of flu recently and does it just in case. Meanwhile, the driver, Shichisuke looks quite pale. He tells the two girls that his stomach is hurting. Kaori chides him and Tamaki for eating ice cream earlier. Shichisuke, feeling a sense of urgency, says that he really needs to pull over. Kaori looks up on her phone and says that the next rest stop is about a kilometer away. They want to inform Yuuta who is driving the Mini in front of them, and Kaori tells Shichisuke to pull up alongside the Mini to tell Yuuta, since his turns his phone off when driving. As the van rides on the opposite lane next to the Mini, Yuuta wonders what is going on, and Kaori tells him they need to pull over since Shichisuke is not feeling well. Behind the two cars, the Detective Boys in Agasa's Beetle wonder why the van sped up past the Mini. Suddenly, they notice Yuuta's arm on fire, which he was resting on the car's windowsill. Yuuta also notices the fire and panicks, and his car swerves along the road before crashing into a tree. Everyone then stop their vehicles and rush towards the Mini to check on Yuuta. They see a bleeding and unconscious Yuuta at the driver seat, hunched over and held back by his seatbelt. While putting out the fire on his arm, Conan tells Kaori and Tamaki to call the police and an ambulance. Conan then wonders how the culprit was able to control and create the fire, just like a spirit.
