Plot overview
While Yumi was tailing her boyfriend, Conan followed her and both met Shukichi, who was talking with Mina and another woman. They reveal themselves to be part of a Shogi practice group and, as they come to the shared apartment of the five players, they discover their friend's lifeless body. They are all suspects. After the police comes, a second murder occurs as another member of the practice group, who had taken a leave, is found dead in his house. She returns to her house frightened about the death of her two rivals, but the serial killer is arrested.
Name origin
Her name, just like the names of the other suspects in her introductory case, is related to typefaces on shōgi pieces. Mina Katsumata (勝又 水菜) comes from the Minase typeface (水無瀬), invented by the Minase family of shogi calligraphers, as well as the player Kiyokazu Katsumata, from which her father's name is also derived from.[1]
