Background
Ryujiro Uematsu is the current principal of Teitan Elementary School, which Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys attend. He has been serving with the school for at least thirty years, ever since the new school building was constructed. He softly admonishes Genta for committing abuse on the schoolhouse, when the latter vented his frustration about the strange night-time occurrences for the last few weeks. Some of these were actually committed by the vice-principal, after he had lost hairpiece when it got lost to a gust of wind in the teaching staff room. Uematsu had found and hid it.
Personality
He is a kind and also serious man. He has strong principles to show the school buildings respect, but he also has a mischieving side, showed when he hid his vice-principal's lost wig, so the poor man couldn't find it. He is a very easy-going and supportive person, who tries to encourage both his teaching staff and his student charges into following the right path. However, he is also a rather shrewd and eccentric person, as he likes to play jokes whenever the opportunity presents itself, especially on overly shy people. Part of this eccentricity is expressed by his notably overlong eyebrows, which droop down from the side of his temples.
