Case
Situation
In Frankfurt, an Europol agent is being chased by Kir and Gin. Although Kir tries to help her escape, Gin eventually murders the agent. Some time later, Conan, Ran, the Detective Boys, Agasa, and Kogoro are invited to the resort at Hachijo-jima, owned by Sonoko's family. Conan later receives information from Subaru about the Europol agent who was murdered and a new Black Organization agent known as Pinga is on the move.

Having discovered Shiratori and Kuroda, Conan secretly went after them to an Interpol underwater facility known as the Pacific Buoy. The facility hosts a new state-of-the-art system that allows them to connect to all the surveillance cameras in Japan, Europe, and eventually all over the world. Headed by Yosuke Makino, four other engineers (Ed from India, Grace from France, Leonhardt from Germany, and Naomi Argento from United States) also work in the facility. Another function of the system is the "All-Age Recognition" system, which uses facial recognition and AI reconstruction of a person’s facial structure to identify individuals whose age may have differed from the source material.
At the same time Bourbon and Vermouth have secretly infiltrated the Pacific Buoy and arranged for the kidnapping of Naomi Argento, holding her captive in a submarine. They along with Vodka and Kir discover from Naomi's flash drive that was hidden in her necklace that the All-Age Recognition system had apparently identified Haibara as Shiho Miyano.

That same night, Chianti, Vodka, and Pinga kidnap Haibara from Sonoko's resort. Conan and Agasa try to chase after them, but unfortunately witness Vodka and Pinga driving their vehicle with Haibara into the sea to board their submarine underwater. The incident was reported to Kuroda, and Conan asked to use the Buoy's surveillance system to check the security cameras on the route of the car chase and the presence of the submarine, but they discovered that no submarine or vehicles were caught on the camera, seemingly indicating that the system had been tampered with.

However, Leonhardt had figured out who the person responsible for tampering with the surveillance footage was and tried to confront the culprit, but was drugged and was seen on the cctv camera committing suicide via poisoning in the Buoy's Cafe. The confession letter apparently written by Leonhardt also mentioned that he was responsible for the Backdoor in the Buoy's system.

Meanwhile, Vodka tried to force Naomi to tell them how to use the All-Age Recognition program, and when she refused to do so, he arranged for her father, a member of the European Parliament that proposed the use of the surveillance system, to be killed.

Later on, Vermouth informed Gin that after running the All-Age Recognition system once again, she discovered that the system is able to pick up the image of other people with similar faces, but not necessarily the same person, indicating that the system is flawed. Frustrated by this development and following orders from Rum, Gin decided to use the submarine to destroy the Buoy. However, when he tried to confront Haibara and Naomi, he discovered that the two had escaped from the submarine using the clues provided by Kir.

Trivia
- Many scenes are reprised from The Fourteenth Target and Reunion with the Black Organization.
- The movie made 850 million yen on its opening day and 3.1 billion yen in its first three days, breaking the previous record by The Scarlet Bullet. The movie earned a total of 13.88 billion yen, making it the first Detective Conan movie to earn more than 10 billion yen and the second highest grossing film of the franchise following The Million-dollar Pentagram.[1]
- The movie also grossed 121.7 million dollars worldwide, the second highest grossing film of the franchise following The Fist of Blue Sapphire[2]
- The special guest voice actor for this movie is Ikki Sawamura, who voiced Yosuke Makino.[3]
- Due to the screening of this movie, visitors to Hachijo-jima have increased rapidly which had previously decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4]
- This movie shared a similar theme (AI Threats and Submarine) with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, which released later in the same year. Both films coincidentally introduce a character named Grace who turns out to be involved in stealing access to AI (Flash drive necklace and Cruciform key respectively).
- The bottle of pinga in the movie "Cachaça 26" is named after Cachaça 51, a Brazilian brand of pinga, as well as the number of the movie (26).
- The sake bottles Kogoro drinks are from the Hachijo-jima Sake Brewery, Shimanagashi (島流し, Shimawatashi (島渡し) in the movie), Edochu (江戸酎, Meijichu (明治酎) in the movie), from Sakashita Brewery, Kichachijo (黄八丈, Hachiojima (八丈島) in the movie), and from Hachijo Kohatsu (八丈興発), Nasakeshima (情け嶋).[5]
- The alcohol bottles in the Black Organization's submarine are shaped after real brand bottles : Special Dry Gin is Gilbey's Special Dry Gin, the rum bottle is Myers's Rum, the vermouth bottle is Martini & Rossi, and the vodka bottle is Beluga Vodka.
- Vodka and Pinga's off-roader is a Jeep Wrangler JK. The license plate is 新宿 334 た・4 29 (Shinjuku 334, Ta 4-29).
- The license plate number of Rum's car is slightly different from The Black Organization's Scheme. In the movie, it is 新宿 330, ち • 2 04 (Shinjuku 330, Chi • 2 04).
