Hiroki Oi (大井 宏樹 Ōi Hiroki?) is a character in the anime franchise Detective Conan.

He is initially shown as a serious man who was only doing his job, but in his second appearence is more friendly. He knows and appreciates Conan's intelligence and deductive skills.

Intrigue at Morikawa Mansion (Anime: 1050-1051)

Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are invited by a chairman, whose body has been consumed by late-stage cancer, to his mansion in a remote island, asking the detective to help him. Meanwhile, his lawyer is also one of the participants rewriting the will. He secretly monitores every actions made by the three sons, to see who genuinely deserves the legacy. However, he breaks the entrustment contract set by the owner and calls the police beforehand, to allow them to approach the island as soon as possible.

The Boiled Fugu Mystery Tour Showdown (Anime: 1074-1075)

He introduces Kogoro, Ran, and Conan to visit Shimonoseki. At the beginning, he shares the detail information regarding the case exclusively to Conan, owing to the fact that he solved the preview case. However, this was interrupted by Kogoro, because thinking he must be the sole detective here. He then provides supports for Conan's case investigation and sees him telling the deduction. Although Conan proclaims that all of the deductions came from Kogoro, he could have known that Conan is the real detective behind Kogoro, but he surely knows who is not a commonplace kid.

Name origin

Screenplay writer Akatsuki Yamatoya discloses on his personal horse racing blog that this character is named after one of his drinking friends: «As an employee of a certain farm, he appeared as a lawyer in anime. If anyone's from that farm, and you watch this episode, please assure to recognize him and make jokes like, "Oh, lawyer!"»
